DO NOT HIRE BARRY! I have hired pros for many projects, and this is the first time I have ever written a bad review. If I could rate him with 0 stars I would. Barry (BLB Lawn Care) was hired for two projects: 1) Minor backyard grading to level out low spots/holes and plant grass seed in those areas. 2) Grade/level driveway and install layer of crush and run. We discussed both projects in detail and Barry assured me these were projects he was capable of doing. I was very clear in explaining what I needed and the importance of getting someone who could do the work well. We met several times at my home, so I could show him where I needed him to fill in the ditches/low spots/holes in the backyard, fill with dirt, plant grass seed, and cover with erosion matting. (He did not know what erosion matting was, so I told him he could find it at Lowes). While I was at work, he eventually showed up to do the work, **filled** in the holes with what I thought was clean dirt and then left, sending me a message that he had to come back. He also told me he was going to pack it down with a roller. He never did. He **said** he put grass seed down and eventually laid the erosion matting down, but did not secure it with any pins. The next day we had 40 mph winds. I got home from work, after a 12 hr day, to find the matting I paid for clumped up in balls rolling around my backyard like tumbleweeds. I drove to Lowes myself to get more matting and pins and was outside in the dark until 9:30 that night securing the new matting. He also did not thoroughly plant the grass seed in the areas it was needed, so now I have patches of grass coming up under the matting. In some spots all the **dirt** has washed away, and I am left with piles of rocks that are completely solid. It is like he dumped a mixture of dirt and crush/run in certain spots in the yard. There is no way I can run a lawnmower over this now. The driveway project was another complete mess. I hired him to grade the driveway level and put a layer of crush and run down. I again made it very clear I needed the driveway leveled and smooth, like the backyard, since I would be driving a motorcycle on it. He said he would come Sunday morning. By 11:30 he had not called or shown. By 2 pm he still had not shown and had not answered my calls or texts. My son, who lives out of state, is a general contractor, and had his own landscape company, had to call him to get him to respond. After my son called him, he finally showed up to work on the driveway, but could not finish the job because he ran out of material. He said he would be back the next day (Monday) to finish. He also did not roller the yard or driveway like he said he would. He told me he could not get the roller. I came home from work on Monday to see the driveway was never smoothed out or leveled. By that time, it had already started to harden. I was out there in the dark trying to rake it smooth with no success. I called Barry to tell him he needed to bring his bobcat the next day and fix the driveway, but quickly realized he was not capable of fixing it. I decided after the mess he created in both the yard and driveway, that I did not want him back to my home. I hired another company to fix the driveway. They did an amazing job. I sent a message to Barry asking him to either fix the backyard or refund my money this week. To date, he has not responded.
