THIS COMPANY PUT MY FAMILY IN DANGER. The work that they did could have set my house on fire. They refused to even give a partial refund or pay for the electrician I had to hire to fix their mistakes. I hired Barney's Heating and Air to do a simple mini-split installation in my garage. They arrived 3.5 hours late to do the installation. The team that came to do it was friendly, but not thorough - I watched them drill multiple unnecessary holes in the wall of my garage to install the mini-split. Then, instead of setting up a separate breaker in the breaker box like you should always do with a mini-split, they simply plugged it in to an existing outlet and ensured me it would not be a problem. Shortly after, we noticed lights flickering and the garage breaker would trip every time we tried to turn on and off the the light switch. I asked them to come back and fix it, and it took weeks to get them to come back. I insisted MULTIPLE times that they should have wired it to its own breaker. Instead, when they came to "fix" it, they changed out the 15 amp breaker for the garage outlets to a 20 amp breaker and then left. This didn't seem right to me, so I called a certified electrician in my neighborhood. He immediately let me know that you CAN NOT DO THAT and that it's an extreme safety hazard to put a 20 amp breaker with 15 amp wiring - he came by on an emergency call that same night because he said our house could have caught on fire!!! He confirmed that I was right all along and that the mini-split absolutely should have been wired to a separate breaker from the start. I contacted Barney's to let them know what had been done and what I was told by the electrician and all he said was that they could come back and wire it to a new breaker but that was "all they could do." Why would I trust them to come back and touch anything electrical in my home after what happened?? All I asked for was a partial refund or for them to pay for a certified electrician to come wire the mini-split properly (like they should have done in the first place) and they refused. They stole $1,300 from me to put my family in danger, drill too many holes in the exterior wall of my home, and plug a unit into an existing socket. I cannot believe how unprofessional this company is. Do not hire them if you value your money and the safety of your family.
