We could not be happier with our basement done by Basement Masters! The work was excellent! The process was seamless! It was clear from the beginning that they have been doing this for awhile-they had a process and system-so we felt at ease right away about choosing them. Though there was construction in our house, they did a great job of minimize the inconvenience of construction so it did not feel like a big burden at all! The company (and workers) were very professional; they accommodated our requests, schedules and any adjustments we needed. They were very pleasant to work with and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them and be a reference! The basement is beautiful and well done!

We would highly recommend Basement Masters for any basement remodeling job. The transformation of our basement is truly remarkable! It is a great place for our kids to hang out with friends or a nice place to have guests stay. We talked to several contractors and Basement Masters was by far the most professional about the job. The cost was very competitive compared to others. While our project was not large, they made us feel as though it was the most important project they had. They were incredibly detail oriented about the work and made great suggestions throughout the project. Their subcontractors did great work and were very conscientious about being in our home and taking care of it. From the beginning to the end of the project, they were easy to deal with, stuck to time lines and were very professional about their work. We cannot say enough good about them! We hired Basement Masters to finish approximately 1500 unfinished square feet in our 1-year old home. From beginning to end, they were the utmost professionals. Pavel was extremely thorough when we met with him to go over the pricing breakdown and conduct the pre-construction walk-through, and Elena was helpful with the overall construction process, design selections, and coordination with suppliers. They answered every question in a timely manner, and ensured that every issue was addressed and resolved to our satisfaction. Basement Masters did a fantastic job for us. They started by walking through the basement with us and analyzing how it could be reconfigured to maximize use of the space. Then Pavel went through their very detailed price list to give us a precise estimate of the cost of the job, noting pricing that was variable based on our final selection of options. The detailed price list and plan for completing the various phases of the job gave us confidence that they knew what they were doing. The crews then marched through the job. Demolition followed by framing followed by electrical and plumbing followed by drywall, etc., etc. It was all planned out and executed very professionally. We had several questions and changes as the job proceeded and Basement Masters was very helpful and willing to make adjustments after clear discussion of price and our prior approval. The final product was beautiful and very functional. Elena, the interior designer, helped us make selections for paint colors and flooring that gave us a warm and inviting space. The trades teams were incredible - knowledgeable, neat and efficient. Most impressive was the demonstrated commitment to excellent work. Great Job!

We came across Basement Masters (BM) via a web search for "finished basement" that brought us to their online gallery. We contacted Pavel, who came out and patiently walked us through their process with our plans and provided us our first estimate. We needed to take care of a few important issues first, starting with replacing original copper water pipes with PVC pipes (this was done to our satisfaction by one of BM's subcontracting plumbers before the basement job actually started). Also looming was a ceiling clearance issue in the existing stairway, which required a county variance. Finally, there were two major water incursion issues that required coordination with a basement water mitigation specialist that Pavel recommended. We received a Christmas present from our county when they finally granted the variance in December 2015. Over a year had passed between our first meeting with Pavel and the notification from the county. When we met with Pavel again, he informed us that their prices had gone up, but he offered a discount if we could start within 10 days of the meeting. The deal was sealed when Pavel graciously offered to have his crew move large and heavy items into our rented storage pod on the start day. When the team arrived they immediately got down to business and very carefully filled the pod with our belongings and started framing. The basement was fully framed within about 4 days; the transformation was unbelievable. Water remediation of two areas in the basement, which was absolutely essential, was done in parallel, shortly after the framing was started. The water contractor recommended by Pavel did an excellent job. As the job progressed from framing, to plumbing, insulation, and drywall, we were impressed with BM’s attention to maintaining clear lines of communication and commitment to staying on schedule (the schedule was clearly articulated and fully considered and checked each week, very similar to scheduling protocols used in large-scale engineering projects). We also appreciated their attention to job-site tidiness; they swept and removed the trash from the basement daily. The electrical subcontractor was superb and extremely pleasant to work with. He and his team took the time to clearly explain options for lighting, fixture placement, and data and home theater outlets, and were very responsive to our input and questions. The carpet installers were very competent and did a fine job. Finally, the finish painter was extremely meticulous and easy to work with; we are very pleased with his fine craftsmanship. There were only a few things we would have liked to have seen done differently. A large basement closet that contained clothing and other household items was left open (without protective plastic) for some period of time during the construction process and a large amount of construction dust made its way in. I hired Basement Masters after interviewing multiple contractors for my project. From the moment I engaged with the owner (Pavel), I knew my search was over. His extreme organization, presentation and level of detail far exceeded my expectations. It was clear he understood his craft and customers' needs. I had a comprehensive written proposal complete with options, schedule and payment plans within a couple hours. This impressive responsiveness didn't end with the owner. The customer care and quality of service extended to the entire team of employees and subcontractors. All work was done on time with great care and professionalism. I was kept well-informed of all tasks throughout the project to include which subcontractors would be in my home on any given day. I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience or the outcome of the project. I can't recommend this company strongly enough!

Pavel's (supervising manager) expert knowledge is unmatched...knows all city Codes, explains every penny of cost. We proposed a decent layout which was ok but they enhanced it tremendously. We decided to contract Basement Masters to finish our Home’s basement in Frederick, Maryland after some exhaustive search/meetings with numerous contractors. From the initial project meeting until the day of completion, they were professional, courteous, accommodating, and trustworthy. We found the Owner, the Project Manager/Designer, Electricians, Plumbers, Dry-wall installers, Painters, Carpet installers, Quality control personnel, etc. from Basement Masters to be consistently reliable and very proficient in their skills. We are extremely glad we selected Basement Masters; they were affordable (for the amazing quality of work performed) and completed the project ahead of schedule.

We had our small, unfinished basement done with them, partitioning it into a living area, office, a new bathroom and utility area. Initial setup was an easy process, builders came on schedule and inspections passed off the bat. Although we opted for the basic options, the basement came out very nice and functional. The attention to detail is commendable and interacting with everyone involved was very pleasant. We've talked to other providers as well but Pavel gave us all of the necessary information we needed and more, which gave us the easy decision to go with them. Overall this decision was worth it.

Basement Masters recently performed a remodel on our basement and did an excellent job. Our split foyer home had a basement that was in desperate need of modernization and we needed more space for our growing family. They gutted our entire basement including the bathroom to provide us with a beautiful new space that meets all our needs. From the start they were the clear contractor of choice. We solicited about three bids, including Basement Masters, for the work that needed to be done. Of the three, it was clear that Basement Masters knew basement remodels inside and out. Their pricing was easy to understand, clear, and quite honestly a better value than the other two contractor bids. Pavel, the owner, was very knowledgeable with our questions and gave advice where solicited. Throughout the bid and initial scoping process I always felt his and his team’s desire to be honest and provide the best service and value possible. It seems to me they operate off of pride of doing a great job and satisfying the customer and the fact that they are being paid to do it is just a benefit. The team started on time and were always professional and respectful of our home and time. I believe they even finished early. If there were any hiccups or questions the communication between myself and the project manager, Elena, or the construction team was always timely and all parties seeked to resolve the issue. I never felt we were being blamed or treated as if it was our problem and not theirs. And to clarify there were very little hiccups or issues. In fact we were blessed with a pretty smooth remodel. However, nothing is without a little bump or date push or whatever and anything like that was always handled well. It was our first major remodel and a significant amount of money to spend for us. We had huge concerns about the existing sump pump system and the Basement Masters team endured all our questions and concerns. They understood although it was common place to them, to us it was not. Again they always communicated and answered our questions around this issue. And I appreciate them putting us at ease as well as doing an outstanding job. In summary our basement has turned out beautifully. I honestly don’t think anyone could have done a better job and I would recommend Basement Masters 10 times out of 10 to any person looking for a contractor to remodel their basement. My only wish is they were the “masters” of everything, but I understand they are the Basement Masters because that is what they focus on and as such are able to really provide quality work and perform masterfully. Hired Basement Masters to refinish our basement, adding a playroom and TV area for the kids. Included framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting and installing a new egress window. Could be happier with the results. It was truly a pleasure to work with Pavel and Elena throughout the process. They answered all our questions, were always punctual and polite and gave great advice when needed. Work was completed on schedule despite my wife and I adding last minute additions (i.e. utility sink). If you want high quality workmanship, outstanding customer service and great value, I highly recommend Basement Masters.

I'm happy with the finished product. The team finished a month ahead of schedule. They weren't the lowest price, but they certainly were the best value. They are light years ahead of other companies with the way they do business. They have upfront pricing options all printed like a menu, which makes deciding what to do to fit within your budget super easy. They are quick to respond if you have an issue or a question. We made a decision to finish our 3000 square foot basement in December 2015—after meeting two other contractors and Pavel, there was absolutely no question who we would be choosing. To start, BM’s online booking engine for appointments is so easy to schedule the initial consultation. The website is a true reflection of their work and provides tons of inspiration and photos. Pavel’s first visit I went through what I thought would be the ideal layout, and he offered suggestions throughout the way. We then sat down and Pavel went through the most thorough and efficient presentation of their business model, pricing and the process. I was a bit floored by the professionalism and attention to detail from the get go. After Pavel left my husband and I ended up changing the layout again due to addition of a movie room and other details, and Pavel came back again within a day to do a new sketch and go through the details again with both of us. They scheduled us to have work started mid-January—the same weekend which ended up being a HUGE snowfall. Nevertheless, they came on schedule anyway, shoveled out our backyard with three feet of snow to gain access, and got all the wood for framing in so that they could stay on schedule. Every contractor who works with Pavel had the utmost professionalism, were kind and patient and addressed all questions/concerns immediately. The interior designer/coordinator Elena M. is fantastic, and the showroom has everything you need. They worked with us to get some unique things we requested. 2500 square foot finished space with movie room, gym, full bath, bar, living room, office, and bedroom was finished in SIX weeks. We always knew who was coming on which day (i.e. electrician/plumber/framers/painters, etc.). Price was transparent and I always had access to an up to date billing spreadsheet with deletions/additions from additional contract. Price list is clear and everything is by the book—so no surprises! We are nothing but thrilled with our basement and BM experience. We recently hired Basement Masters to finish our unfinished basement. The area to be finished was about 980 square feet and included a full bath, bedroom, laundry room, play room, and home gym. Pavel and his team were outstanding from the first meeting through the completion of the project. We are absolutely thrilled with the results of their work. Prior to contacting Basement Masters, we had an architect draw up plans to help us work around some odd features of the existing basement layout. Pavel reviewed our draft plans and looked at the space and was immediately able to sit down and begin walking us through pricing. Basement Masters handles their bidding process on a fixed price basis, so we walked through exactly what we wanted and how much each part of the project would cost. Pavel was also able to give us specific pricing information for things that we were undecided about, such as door types to separate two of the rooms, flooring types, etc. By the end of our initial meeting, we had a very clear idea of how much the project would cost and the timeline to completion. We interviewed several other contractors, and nobody beat Basement Masters on price or timing to complete the project, so we decided to go ahead. Our projected timeline was 9 weeks to completion, and Pavel and his team immediately went to work. Throughout the process, Elena from Basement Masters kept us constantly updated on status as well as the progress that we could expect week to week. When changes to the schedule were necessary, Elena updated us promptly. Throughout the process we felt like we knew exactly what to expect. The workers themselves were excellent. We have an infant at home, so we had fairly strict requirements for what time workers could arrive and when they would need to be out. The Basement Masters team respected these requirements. In addition, when they were in our home, they were quiet (at least as quiet as one can expect during construction) and always cleaned up after themselves. During the process, we ran into an issue on our end when the bathroom vanity we ordered arrived broken. Basement Masters worked with us to deal with the issue and ultimately installed the vanity top twice (once with the broken version to make the bathroom usable and again when the replaecment arrived) at no extra cost. We also ran into a minor water issue that required some adjustments to the schedule, but Basement Masters didn't miss a beat. We had considered getting our basement finished for many years, but just couldn’t seem to find a contactor we were comfortable with to do the job. While searching on Houzz, we stumbled across Basement Masters, and after reading the reviews on several sites and viewing their work online, we decided to request an online quote via their website. The price was attractive, and we liked that everything was itemized in detail. We then scheduled the in-home consultation, which was conducted by the owner, Pavel Abaev. Pavel quickly surveyed the space to assess the work to be done, but having read previous reviews we were not put off by this. Pavel absolutely knows his business and is committed to making sure his customers are satisfied. He went through the detailed offer list with us and we selected the desired options. After final agreement, his team promptly provided a schedule and responsibility list. Other contractors came in, and without taking any measurements or providing any plans or details of what they would accomplish, gave quotes that were almost double that of Basement Masters. As promised, our basement was completed in about nine weeks, and that included a major change we requested towards the middle of the project and delays due to a huge snow storm. Pavel has assembled a team of employees and contractors who are highly skilled and committed to good customer service. Being very picky, we were impressed with their attention to detail, especially the tile work, drywall finishing and painting. In addition, any questions or concerns that we had were promptly answered and resolved to our satisfaction by Pavel. The workers arrived as scheduled and throughout the project, kept the space and yard free of debris. Also Basement Masters was willing to accommodate any changes we had as the project progressed. Basement Masters did an excellent job on renovating the 600sq ft basement in our house. We had the vintage 1950's basement - checkerboard tiled floor, pine paneling over cement block, a half bath with a rough in for a full, and a dryer that didn't vent outside. Pavel was excellent to work with on the planning stage, walking us through the constraints of our basement, what had to be done to bring it up to code, and his itemized approach to the costs made his estimate transparent and easy to follow. Their price for everything was extremely competitive from all the quotes we got. The scope of the project was large for a smaller space, including full demo of the basement, creating a full bath in a new location, creating a laundry room in a new location, expanding windows in concrete block, and moving exterior door locations. Throughout the construction the crew was very professional and clean. They were very accommodating to minor changes we made while construction progressed, like adding in a recessed shelf to the tiled shower. The quality of the construction, plumbing, and electrical was all excellent, and we passed our inspections the first time without any issues. Their focus on project management ensured that they kept on schedule and finished on time, and Elena as the project manager was very good about updates on progress and keeping us informed on which tradesman was coming next and what fittings (vanity, toilet, etc) we needed to have and when. Renovations are always stressful, but Basement Masters made it smooth and straightforward. We are thrilled with the results. Pavel and his team took my dream design and with some adjustments and turned it into a beautiful living and work space – my wife and I could not be happier. During the first conversation with Pavel it was clear Basement Masters was a credible and reliable business, not just another contractor looking for a quick turnaround to make the next dollar. The telling moment was the fact that Pavel said they would not do the job without ALL permits and inspections. The others I had in my house each tried to dissuade me from getting the permits/inspections due to “…resulting delays…” if you get that kind of a reply run away and straight to Basement Masters. Don’t be fooled by their youth this is a team of master craftsmen each one with a set of skills that are to say the very least very impressive. Pavel has a scheduling system that surpasses anything I ever saw in the military and executes it on time and on budget. One of the aspects of the job I was very impressed with was their willingness to work with me on ideas and show me where they had a better concept and it all worked out to my liking. John, Jim, George, Victor, Andre, Elena M., and Elena A. were a real pleasure to work with and were courteous and always on time. If a particular task required extra time to complete this crew was more than willing to put in the hours even on Friday evenings and weekends. Jim a master carpenter tackled a task with material (faux staked stone panels) he had never worked with before and turned a plain looking fireplace wall into an unbelievably realistic looking stone structure, it was fun and educational watching this master craftsman work. The “tile-guy” did an outstanding job with a tricky tub surround design I threw at him and it looks fantastic! A friendly word of advice: don’t do what I did – thought I could save money by working directly with Home Depot to purchase some of the materials, bath fixtures, lighting, etc. – what a headache it turned out to be (for a variety of reasons) and actually resulted in throwing a wrench in the schedule. Save yourself the hassle and let Pavel’s team handle the ordering – you just have to look at the catalogs and samples then make your picks – they will do the rest. If there is something special you want Elena will be glad to help you. My only criticism is that a couple of times we had to clean up after the half-hearted sloppy attempts by the insulation and drywall finishing crews. Bottom Line: Basement Masters is the only team you need to call for your first basement project or remodel.
