Double the cost that should have been quoted. He took about 300 gallons of water to fill his tank after asking me if he could get some water. I don't think this is trustworthy company and it felt like they were trying to take advantage of me.

"Mel, we did not even work for you! You wanted a example of what you wanted to be done so we gave you a free idea of what it would look like! We did get some water for our 100-gallon water tank that we wash our equipment down with when we get done with the job! You wanted us to spray asphalt sealer over top of the rock that you got by a bad company and we told you we could spray it on there but that is not the way to go! We recommended relaying the drive! But if you wanted us to spray the gravel you had down we would and we gave you a price for it! I am sorry if you thought it was high but all it would do is waste our sealer that is not even for what you."

He gave me a quote for the whole job but barely wrote anything on the quote and said he was just keeping things simple. He then called me in the middle of the job and tried to sell me a sealing coat for 750 and some thing else for 350 - all of which I assumed was part of the job. He said it wasn?t and I complained that he didn?t mention this at the time of the sale. He said I didn?t ask. I said it?s his product he should tell me what is included or excluded. Then when I refused to pay extra anything, when I arrived home he tried to say he put the top coat on, which he did not. The drive is not very smooth in parts. And I wouldn?t trust this guy or recommend him to anyone.

"We went above and beyond for this lady! Job was done in a timely manner, we even tore out some bushes and done some dirt work for free of charge! I do not understand why we have a bad review like this! Job was done right and looked really smooth! When we got done with the job we offered a seal coating that can be done after you lay the job, and she made a big deal out of it saying you should have told me at the Beginning! Blacktop is like anything else it has maintenance! Blacktop only has problems when you do not maintain it right! We do not normally try to seal as soon as we get done we like to let them sit for a while to cure our before we put"

This business tries to make it seem like they are more than they are. While I was not as pleased with the job done at least they tried to make it right.

We had them re-seal and stripe (paint) an asphalt church parking lot with some large cracks in the surface that needed special attention and filling. We also had a large meeting scheduled the following night for which we needed the lot to be dry and usable. Bates's assured me it would be done right, and dry in time. They did quality work, kept their word, and kept me out of trouble with the church board! One member felt I over-paid, but the extra crack filling and on-time completion were vital and worth it. Several neighbors also had personal paving and sealing work done, and were happy with their results as well. Highly recommend. Larry Warren, Admin-Council President

I think their work crew was having a very bad day. First, they arrived 2 hours late. The crew leader immediately told me the measurements provided by another company were way off (they turned out to be accurate) and therefore they needed more money for the job. They actually started about an hour after they arrived (first lunch and then equipment issues). They somehow backed a truck into our grass causing an asphalt patch to break up/off. They left some tar and pieces of wood on the grass. But after I called in to their office to voice my concerns they more than refunded the extra charges and sent a very nice apology letter.
