Central A/C Service or Repair
I?d been with them for years and each time they came out for a service call, they would pressure me to purchase some new pricey thing. On the last service call, the tech Tony came down from the attic with pictures of two random holes in my duct system! (Now, for context, we had just installed a brand new roof, and the roofers had made sure all of the duct system was untouched and undamaged. I?d even had an energy efficiency guy come out from Duke Energy afterward to make sure that everything was in good condition.) I told him. He insisted that there are holes that cannot be patched and that an entirely new duct system would be over $5000!! I told him no way! I felt he had kicked holes into my ducts! Afterwards, I noticed that my AC struggled and bill went up! I hired a hvac guy and he said that the two holes looked absolutely sliced by a cutting tool! Called Bayside - their girl Shelly was horrified and said Mark the boss would call me. No call!!! I am still waiting!!! Scammers!!!

Buyer beware!!! This company â fixedâ my HVAC = $4000. It broke 1 month later. They zinged my for a new HVAC = $6000. Iâ m an honest & trusting person + I was new to the area. So I really got zinged TWICE. Not again!! Take the warning!!! Please donâ t make my mistake. Shoo around for an honest & ethical company!!

I live in a 1200 square foot condo and they installed a 14 ton AC. My last one was only 2.5 ton. I would like to know why. I paid almost $8,000. I should have done my homework before the job. I asked my friends and they said that they have a two and a half ton AC. Also the PC said that the Ruud AC is only for areas where the weather is not excessive and it should be used only three or four months a year. I am afraid that it won't last because I live in Florida. Also, the tech, Anthony, said that I needed freon, but it would cost $5000.

They do not know their axx from a hole in the ground. Came out SIX TIMES within FIRST MONTH of installing a new air conditioner. A TOTAL INCOMPETENT COMPANY!!!! Stay AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY unless you want to spend $4800 on a new air conditioner that will not work a week later.

They came to the house, and did what they said they would do for the price we discussed. Canâ t ask for more than that.

Dishonest and unethical company. Sales pressure was worse than with a used car salesman. AC unit was replaced 3 years ago. Was and still am extremely ill. Family deaths and tragedies during this time and an elderly husband who knows nothing about AC units. Did not realize Bayside did not replace the A/C return box and did not provide hurricane pad and straps that we paid for in contract until compressor quit and I started researching. They used a return box from the old system (it has a sticker with an old brand name inside) that had a 9 duct opening in the back that they left open to suck in hot garage air, dirt, bugs, chemical, and car fumes. When I called they said it has been 3 years since installation (they did a prepaid maintenance 2 1/2 years ago, but did not schedule second prepaid maintenance because they spent most of the 1st one trying to convince my husband that we desperately needed to replace our upstairs unit as well, which is still working fine) and you just noticed these things, so we are not obligated to install items you paid for. Willing to come out and look if we pay them a $65 service fee. Liars, stay away. Check their Yelp reviews for what they have done to people... I think they must pay people for BBB and other website reviews.
Response from Bayside Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc.
"This job was installed 3 years ago, and passed city inspection perfectly. If the unit was not secured and strapped to a hurricane pad or existing concrete pad, it would have never passed inspection. Secondly we told her that we wanted to send someone out to look but since it had been 3 years there would be a service call charge unless there was a mistake by us. If so not only would she not have to pay but we would stand behind it. Not exactly sure where the dishonesty, lack of ethics, or lying comes in.There is an appt. scheduled on 6/2/20 per her request and we will see what she's talking about."

Do not go with them. Previous owner of my home had them install a 2-ton Nordine Heat Pump in 2013. In 2020 the evaporator coil froze up due to a coolant leak. Called them since they installed it and the technician quoted me $2670 to replace the coil plus $32 a pound for freon. I asked about the 10-year warranty on the parts that the previous owner had left with me and was told the warranty is only good for the purchaser. The technician then tried to sell me a new A/C system. I told him I would call around to get other quotes before making such a larger purchase. I called two other A/C companies and was quoted between $1200-$1600 to replace the evaporator coil. Bayside charges way more than the competition and the quality of work is no better. Ended up purchasing and entire new system from another company after hearing about their honesty from other customers. Do not go with Bayside, there are lots of other local companies that are more honest!

I had a total replacement of AC the previous week. The two who did this were very quick and appeared like they had done this many times. I was told we would have an electrician come out and replace or check out circuit breakers. They came and by afternoon the AC was out. I called Bayside and sent William H who was able to trouble shoot and found the breaker above the 40 AMP (which the electrian changed out) damaged the 20 AMP. Also I notice the Energy Saving Device was not connected and asked the serviceman to hook up. He stated this was to be done only by Duke Energy. This was the first I had heard of ths.

Unlike most companies, they charge you the $49.95 diagnostic fee even if they do the work. Called them after paying and they verified this is their standard operating practice and again verified it when I got a follow up call asking about the service. My repair was replacing a fan capacitor on the condensing unit. They charged $172 for replacing the capacitor plus the $49.95 for a total of $221.95. From arrival to departure including writing up the bill was about 20 minutes. Looked up the capacitor at Grainger and my cost would have been about $40. Their cost would have been much lower especially using one of their usual suppliers. Charging the diagnostic fee in my opinion is excessive. For most companies it is intended to cover their time if they don't do the job. Like I could have told them no on doing the work and gone to Grainger and saved myself almost $100. I think that would be a crappy thing to do to a company, but can see why it would be tempting to someone of lower moral character or the extra money would take food off of their table. The best thing I can say about them is that they got out to me on the same day as I called. Others were 1 or 2 days out. This is August and it was the deciding factor in hiring them. So if you can't get anyone else, are desperate and don't mind spending an extra $50, they are your guys.

Air conditioner was not cooling call them out for a service check the first man called in a second guy he said everything checked out fine except the coils needed cleaned and the ducts needed cleaned they also added one pound of freon and tighten something in the back. Before a month was up the air conditioner was no longer cooling again my daughter came home from vacation and found a leak above her dining room the ceiling is ruined I asked them to come out first they wanted to charge me $89 for a service call I refused talk to Chris a manager he waved at Sea and sent a guy out all of a sudden the whole coil unit needed replaced but he said it was the drip pan that caused the problem funny thing they said the safety switch was functioning okay which is attached to the drip pan so how did they not know something was wrong with the drip pan in the first place also the drip pan is over the garage that is not where the leak occurred it is in the dining room I asked to talk to Tom the owner and it took 3 days for him to ever call me back in the meantime they ordered the coils on a Wednesday said they would come in by Friday or Monday no phone call so I called another company on Monday they have the needed Parts by Tuesday and came and did the work on Wednesday ghost the insurance adjuster and the new air conditioning company air rescue said it had nothing to do with the drip pan it was the coil unit that shows everything up and then the ice dripped and went through the duct system Tom says they have no responsibility to fix my damaged ceiling

I hired them for a maintenance call and installation of a humidistat. They never quoted me a price for the humidistat just that I had to wait for the technician. After the service came a sales pitch for a maintenance contract which lowers the cost of the humidistat. I was not prepared to spend 650 dollars for the contract at the time. Service technician was very personable.

Kerry, the tech, was pointing out various services he was performing and explaining as he went. There was NO pressure to purchase a new air conditioning unit.

Great communication during service by the tech about the process and services completed. I did appreciate the follow up by customer service to check out how the service was.
