Very impressed with Ken and the subcontractors involved with my garage. He constantly monitored the progression of the garage to make sure the project was done correctly. This job required demolition of a portion of my existing garage. Ken and his crew constructed a new garage that blended in with the remains of an existing 120 year old. Not an easy task but the results are outstanding!

Bay State Homes built our 2 car attached garage. I was very happy with the quality of the finished project as well as working with Ken. He was easy to work with, professional and communicated with us throughout the project. He used high quality materials. His contractors were also easy to work with and did great work. I would highly recommend Bay State Homes for your building or home improvement project.

After reading the reviews I went with Baystate. My initial interactions with Ken went well , we where excited to get started and Ken started off great to work with. However something happened about half way into our project and Ken became very difficult to work with. His attitude towards me became very short , acted annoyed and even almost our right aggressive. We had to have several conversations about the same topics because he either didn?t like what i was requesting or just plain forgot what we had discussed. From then on out things only went down hill. It got to the point where he threatened to stop work unless I paid him up front for the remainder of the work, even though I was trying to stick to the contract and payment schedule put forth by him he threaten me to not continue unless payment was made ahead of schedule, then he insulted me and said he was concerned I didn?t have the money. Bear it in mind i had already paid him 2/3rds of the money according contract so this all felt very out of no where. Now to be fair this was my first experience doing a project of this size, we where finishing our basement and adding a bathroom so there where some design changes made during the project as everything started to come together , these design changes where all upgrades and I felt like should of been easy changes. Ken pretty much gave me attitude about every change. It felt like he wanted to do the job the cheapest and quickest way possible. Ken offered some helpful suggestions for the rustic feel that we where looking for but then delivered unfinished materials. For example live edge wood bar tops. Now having no prior experience with that type of top if you do the research what you find are images of finished products. What Ken put in was a raw piece of cut wood and told me it was up to me to finish it and make it useable. Just overall not the customer experience I was expecting. What I will say and is the only saving grace is the main carpenter Don. He does fantastic work , he is helpful , thoughtful, and takes time to talk about options, pros / cons and generally provides good guidance on design topics . If you are looking for quality work Don is the guy. The problem is you have to deal with Ken. All in all , I would say if you have a cookie cutter project that your looking to get done for a fair price and great quality use Baystate , but if your project has any major designs or non standard elements I wouldn't go with them. I'm hoping I just caught Ken at some weird stressful time in his life and my experience won?t be duplicated to others , but beware you could experience the nightmare of working with him.
Response from Baystate Homes Corporation
"Job had to be stopped twice due to the customer falling behind per payment schedule at which time the customer became very combative as evidenced above. We have thousands of happy customers and A+ Better Business Bureau."

The only issue is that they didn't match the shingle color. He asked me which one and I told him. He said the shingles are wet so they look darker, and recommend a lighter shade. So I went with his recommendation. But they don't match; darker would have been better. He didn't help me out here. Other than that, great job.

I am very pleased with the 17" x 34" - 6"workshop that Ken Kosla of Baystate Homes built on the back end of my garage. His price was lower than the other three builders that I interviewed, and he did an excellent job. The construction started in the fall, and he kept his commitment to get the shop built before the snow started. Ken was very pleasant to work with. He responded promptly to phone calls and communicated well. He followed my specific requests on structure, power, lighting, and interior finish. I was so pleased with his work that I had him re-roof our garage and re-roof our back porch, adding a second floor balcony above the porch. I would definitely recommend Ken Kosla for construction projects.

I hired Baystate Homes Corp. through this site. Ken Kosla immediately responded and came to look at the job which was to repair and replace rotted wood near the roofline on the outside of my house. Ken was thorough as he made suggestions for other neglected areas in disrepair. I admired Ken's professionalism and strong work ethic. Arriving early, he wasted no time . After a full day, my driveway and yard were cleaned before he left. Ken is a perfectionist in his craft and to his credit, quickly responds to phone calls. Hopefully, thanks to Ken's quality construction , the flying squirrels will no longer make a home in my attic!! I highly recommend Ken Kosla for quality work performed in a timely manner.

Our first project was to redo an outdated bathroom, replace the vanity, replace toilets in 2 bathrooms, enlarge a hall closet to create a laundry space in a more convenient area in our home, ( which included moving the washer and dryer from the lower level ), and adding an instant hot water system in our kitchen. Communication was terrific! Ken completely understood our needs, and returned a reasonable estimate within the week. He coordinated all the players effortlessly and the job was done beautifully, on budget, and with an impressive attention to detail. We were particularly pleased with his patience with our quest for a marble vanity top that was just right. This work was done last year. He has most recently returned to install a range hood vent for us; not an easy job as the existing vent had to be enlarged and some roof work was required. Once again, the work was done on time, on budget, and despite the heat, Ken was always in good spirits and up for the task. What impressed me again was the attention to detail, and the little things not necessarily in the contract, but that add a nice touch, like filling in holes in the wall left by the other hood. While he was here he repaired a fascia board that had been ripped away during a winter storm - something we were wondering how to address. We intend to use Ken for all or the work in our house going forward.

They were perfect gentlemen, nice to have around, and did everything to my complete satisfaction. They did many extra jobs for me than were in the original contract. I have hired many contractors before and Ken Kosla and his associate were by far the best I have ever had work on my home. I would hire them again in a minute

Tremendous experience, great Customer Service, so knowledgeable and professional. Our deck looked amazing after being completed and in addition, suggestions were made to repair a couple of other areas outside our home and we could not have been happier with the work. Top-notch, would work with and hire again in a heart beat!
