I had the tub faucet running and the lever wouldn't work. I had already removed the cover so it took their guy just a look at it to see that the small part needed to be replaced. The part itself likely cost $15-20, and it took him 15 minutes to finish the job. The real surprise came when he charged me $380 for it. This was extreme over-charge and I mentioned that but he could not care less. So guys, BEWARE of Benjamin and Franklin Plumbing as they are big rip-offs.You would hope that HomeAdvisor would do a better job of screening these businesses.

My plumber was Russell. He was excellent. He came to the house for the initial pipe repair (busted hot water line under the house), then for a second visit to replace the hot water heater and additional piping. But on the 2nd visit, they sent some hot-shot companion plumber who was trying to up-sell me on all sorts of stuff. I'm not an idiot, and I know the trades, so it was evident that they sent this guy with Russell because they felt Russell was being too honest and not trying to sell me stuff I didn't need. I've seen this done before in the trades. I have hired Benjamin Franklin for other jobs and was very happy with the final result, but this attempt to squeeze me for every dime they can get when I was already spending over $2K for the job at hand is not a good way to make business. It insults the customer, and drives away good employees who are honest. The current management needs to rethink its approach with customers if it wants to retain them. This is why I gave "customer service" a 4.0. Other than this unfortunate attempt to up-sale me, they did an excellent job with the job and their punctuality was exceptional. Don't try to up-sale me and you'll always have my business. Be honest with your customers and realize that plumbing bills are expensive: you don't need to sell customers a product they don't need.
