Clean Out a Sewer

Was sold the idea that we had inferior sewer pipe. (Green pipe) The pipe was replaced by a better (thicker product) Connection was made to the inferior green pipe. When I commented about this was told that the pipe belongs to the city/ Which leaves me to believe that I may have the same problem in the future. ..What was the point of replacing all that pipe at an additional 4000 dollars? When I mention that the void underdrive should be filled was told they do not do that. Leaving the job driveway unsafe to drive on. Recommend them I do not think so. Will share this on net!

Install or Replace a Water Heater

I called Benjamin Franklin plumbing for a hot water tank installation and also for a diagnosis of water quality issues in the bathtub. Ezequiel was the plumber who came to our house. Ezequiel was on time, and did excellent work. On top of that he is a very friendly guy. I highly recommend Benjamin Franklin for your plumbing needs and if you get Ezequiel it will be your lucky day!

Install or Replace a Water Heater

The quality and service were excellent. The only issue was that the cost estimate went up by 30% after a change in materials (PVC to PEX) was made. I felt this was excessive.

Extremely expensive and will pitch you on a year subscription for ongoing plumbing needs whether you bring it up/request it or not. If you do not book directly through them they will call you to verify the appt, and if they dont reach you they will not show up for the time scheduled through a service like this one. They came for two jobs and to quote another. We needed one done on the spot and way overpaid. The 2nd was a need but we passed on it because of the price and the 3rd thing, the quote we needed, was higher than another service quote by nearly 2k (got it for $4700 vs the quote of around $6500 from here). Lastly, tech showed up and complained to my son (21 and only one home at the time) about his Mercedes being in the shop and how that is going before ever even talking to him about our needs.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
