Berkeley Electric responded quickly to my initial query and sent Fran to evaluate the job ($150). I wanted to have installed 2 smart 240v controllers for hot motor and for baseboard heater in bedroom that I had found on internet. Fran came promptly completed the evaluation and approved of my choices. When they arrived, he returned to install (5 hrs work). All very professional, if perhaps a little expensive. But he did an excellent job.

Quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced GFI plug, then swapped out two pendant light fixtures. Would definitely hire again.

Complete electrical panel upgrade. installed 4 new light switches. very happy with job. completive price also.

We replaced an old ceiling fan with a new fan with remote control. Before Alberto arrived, I disassembled as much of the old fan as I could reach from the floor and pre-assembled most of the new one to minimize the technician's time. I'm not good on ladders which was the reason for the service call. Alberto was able to remove the old fan, change the hanger, and install the new fan in just under an hour. Well worth the $150/hr service call.

The lights were out in the loft. The two guys came over and looked for the source of the problem, but to no avail. In my judgement, the workers were incompetent and lacked experience.

They called and had a crew available earlier than scheduled. Completed the small project in a little more than two hours including getting required materials.

Very pleased with the service I got for maintenance on my baseboard electric heaters. (Cadet) I don't think Fran (my technician) had any experience with this Cadet brand. But the company DID research the brand online (which I had done as well). They found a downloadable manual and gave the info to Fran. Fran suggested that my 20 year old wall heater was a possible fire hazard. It was acceptable that I obtain the replacement unit myself. On his own initiative Fran suggested we could switch out one of the other wall heaters into the defective wall heater's can until I got the replacement. I am impressed with the initiative the repairman showed in solving my problem and the firm's offer of a Senior discount rate. I know I can get an electrician at a lower hourly rate. But will I find someone familiar with baseboard electric heaters and willing to use his brain?

Fan was installed over 30 years ago and is no longer sold anywhere, nor are there any replacements which would fit opening in wall and existing duct hardware, meaning you would need cut into the wall and install new hardware inside duct (possibly enlarge at opening) just to be able to attach replacement exhaust fan. What a project! Fran Holland of American Electrical found various parts (motor, blades, and assorted other parts) and REBUILT the 30+year old unit!!!! If we ever have need to do something in our home we can't do, electrical or not (rebuilding an old exhaust fan is not electrical work) Fran Holland is the first person we'll call

I was told the power would be restored by 5PM... at 4:38 PM, the power was restored, and the clean up was complete and through. I watched a bulk of the work being perform and am very impressed at the knowledge and competence, as well as the professional of the crew. Zalman Sher, the owner was the initial contact and wrote the bid. Very competitive and delivered on all promises in the time frame. I was surprise to have the work start sooner than expect, and pleased. Would I use American Electrical again - YOU BETCHA!
