Through Angies List, Mr. Sonny J. of BIG EZ Guys General Contracting contacted me after I left a request.This was to replace a turbine ventilator damaged by Hurricane Zeta, and also to address a leak near a chimney. He came to survey the situation and said he would be back the next day and could repair it. This is for the house of my friend and I would be paying the cost. Before I was present he gave my friend a cost of $1,500 for flashing around each of two chimneys.  We had no written estimate or contract.  When I arrived at the site and spoke to Mr. Sonny J, he had already begun the work and he presented me with an invoice for the work on two chimney flashings at $1,700 each for a total of $4215.75.  I told him that he had given my friends the price of $1,500 each and I wondered how that was arrived at.  I believe that it should be based on the cost of Labor and materials but he said it was a set price. That initial invoice included sales tax charged on the labor which is not proper.  He presented another invoice for $3336.15, and then another for $3450. He later told my friend that he could stop with just one chimney and presented a final invoice of $1,950, which I paid. I have record of all of these invoices by email The work was done in 3 hours by two men.  I Believe In fairness that $1950 is an overcharge of about $1,000 dollars for six man-hours of labor and a small materials cost.  I believe they were taking advantage of an older lady, and an older man - I am 83. He did not have an advanced written estimate or contract.  I do not recommend this company to be fair and the trustworthy.

Roof developed a leak in Hurricane Zeta. Sonny got in touch and was rapidly ready to go into action. He was calm, direct, and honest, helping me understand and assess the options for what to do. He also identified a small issue on a second roof area that he offered to seal up free of charge. I felt a great deal of trust with him immediately, and could tell he was being straight, including an explanation for why he had a different diagnosis than another company who gave me an estimate. I went all with him, and within two days he had done all the work. He also was very honest with me and let me know that some of the work in his estimate turned out to be unnecessary, and thus he discounted me the cost of that. I will definitely call on Sonny for any future roof issues!

Big EZ Guys started in the right direction but they failed when their masonry subcontractor chose to bring in inexperienced/unskilled labor on-site to perform masonry tuckpointing. It got so bad that I refused to let them continue and Sonny brought in another masonry subcontractor to attempt to remedy the situation. The end product did not even come close to industry standards so we agreed to part ways after I paid him for the work. The low quality forced me to paint the masonry in order to cover up the poor workmanship. I also had to use several tubes of masonry caulk to get the joints looking halfway decent prior to painting. Very disappointed.

BIGEZ Guys removed a non-functioning chimney from the back of my house. They were fast and did amazing such amazing work. The back of my house looks much better thanks to Sonny and his crew.
