BEWARE of price shifters! Sadly, I am writing about a business that not long ago I thought was a keeper. I am a loyal client. I like to work with people who treat me fairly and I pay more for integrity. As a RE professional, I use workmen regularly. The first time I hired Cal the job went well and as agreed. At that time, I mentioned I had a similar job at another location. He estimated the second job at the same price as the previous job. Time passed until I finally was able to proceed with the second job. From the onset, Cal quoted the job at a much higher price blaming overall cost increases. I understand that costs do go up and accepted his price. The job was scheduled. The night before starting the job we reviewed the work and he increased his costs again! This time rather than accepting his justification, I cancelled the job because he violated my trust not because of the last-minute price increase. The job had not changed from the first time he and I spoke. Money was no longer the issue. I no longer trust Cal and with sincere disappointment will not hire him again at any price.
