Our heat pump went out the other day providing no heat. We called Black Hills (who installed the system) to have a technician come out for diagnosis and repair. Their technician found a dust/hair clogged evap refrigerent cooler that caused high pressure that shut down the system. He showed us a picture he took of the situation. I asked if I could just clean it since It was assessable. He said we would ruin the fragile fins if we tried this. He said the only way to get us going again was to unbraze the evapcooler, clean and reinstall, and rebraze the unit. He estimated that this would cost $2,200. We paid their diagnosis fee and called another local heating company for another estimate. The other companyâ s technician found the clogged cooler, cleaned it without removing it, and found a high pressure switch that was stuck open. He repaired that and had our heat going again in less than an hour. Our cost with them was $208. So Black hills would have charged us $1992 more to get our heat going again. This is so outrageous, I canâ t hardly even believe it. I hope everyone sees these reviews and avoids this company.

OH. MY. GOSH. I don't think we've ever been dealt with by a customer with such professionalism, or a service tech with such proficiency and politeness. On top of that, the tech turned out to be an old acquaintance who knew me from thirteen years ago! SO cool! Nick did a fantastic job with our duct cleaning, and I do mean fantastic. He was exceedingly polite through and through, and it was a great experience. Black Hills themselves were very communicative, with great pricing, quick availability, and ease of communication throughout the process. They have a very polished intake, scheduling, and billing process which just blew me away. We're very grateful - we had a different vendor on the books and SO glad we cancelled and went with Black Hills. As a result, we'll also be going with them for their Comfort Pass monthly maintenance plan. Thank you Nick!!! Thank you Black Hills!!!

Colton arrived on time. Made sure he worn his booties while in the house. Checked the furnace and the air-conditioning. Cleaned and installed parts on the A/C. Very good at explaining what he was doing and what needed to be replaced..As usual Black Hills is great service.

Our kitchen counter remodeling left us with a new sink but no faucet. I found online that Black Hills was recommended, so I called them. They said regulations required air vents for the dishwasher, so the matching soap dispenser ended up not being installed. In total, we replaced 1) a faucet, 2) an air vent for the dishwasher, 3) a leaking hot water shut-off, and 4) a garbage disposal. The total bill amounted to over $3,000; is this reasonable? The garbage disposal online costs between $300 to $400. Later, I discovered that the dishwasher vent was only required with new home construction, and ours was built on the 70th floor. After the work was done, we checked and immediately realized that we had been cheated and taken advantage of. Those two guys left with smog on their faces, knowing two senior citizens were not likely to fight them.

The persons who contacted me were knowledgeable, personable and explained everything in detail. The crew that did the work (Central Air Conditioning System) seemed extremely competent and finished the work without fuss or bother. I'm almost looking forward to next summer in the belief that I will not have to suffer from the heat.

Helpful scheduling to replace ductwork in crawl space after extensive rodent damage during a cold snap.
