    review by John D. Charlton MA. blacktop services ripped out my 40- year- old 5000 square driveway on a very steep incline.They regraded installed 2 coats of asphalt along with a berm. The driveway came out beautiful. This company get's ten stars from me! They did the work on time and the whole crew really worked hard and well together! I can tell they have worked together for a while. This company is a well oiled and polished unit! Mike you should be very proud of your company. I highly recommend your company !

    They successfully graded to stop garage flooding, but the asphalt mix was too oily and after 5 days when the driveway was used, tread marks were left in the asphalt. Where the driveway meets the street it is at least 2 inches above the street, leaving a dangerous bump. They said they would fix the problems, but after 10 weeks they have not scheduled the repair work and do not return phone calls or reply to emails. They did not get a town permit for the job and charged $1000 over the initial estimate when the job was finished. Their website says they offer a senior citizen 10% discount and they never offered it to me.

    See our BBB review of Black Top Services. Never sent us the invoice as promised and no customer service last year after repeated calls and texts and promises to get it right. Do not hire. We have large holes, cracks, uneven thickness of pavement and more.

    I had some misgivings throughout, Dale wanted check made out to him personally- odd, but ok. I never got a receipt for work, odd but ok. Driver was mad at me because I didn t put a sign in front of the house, which I was not asked to do, odd but ok. Response was prompt, I was a small nuisance job to be done after a morning job was finished- that s fine, and it was rescheduled a couple times which was fine as I work from home. Installation looked professional with nice attention to detail. I let asphalt sit for 6 days (told to wait 5 days), but in first 2 weeks of parking there are ruts where front tires sat. Not a heavy commercial vehicle, just a minivan. Communication with Dale was met with no replies but curiously their job done by sign was picked up after I expressed concern. I wasn t claiming or implying faulty work, I just wanted Dale to stop by so he could assess the damage and my options to repair. It s obvious in hindsight, it was a really hot stretch, the asphalt needed longer to cure, but when the expert says 5 days and the customer gives it 6, and still there s damage, that s something that should be made right. If it had they would ve received 5+ stars. In short, everything is fine until the check gets cashed, and it will be cashed same day. I m kind of bummed out on the deal, I have $2800 of brand new asphalt that has tire shaped ruts in it, if I saw this coming I would ve kept parking on dirt. Customer service should not be proportional to the size of the job.

    7. Legal Search for Civil Judgments
      We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them.
    8. Liens Search
      We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them.
    9. Identity Verification (SSN)
      HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities.
    10. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup)
      We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
