How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I started in the Landscape Industry in 2013 as a general laborer on a crew and quickly worked my way into a foreman position. I was able to utilize my management skills in that postion and was promoted further, to an account manager/sales position. While I was an account manager I sold and managed over $2,000,000 in landscape projects doing a variety of different kinds of landscaping. From there, I changed companies to further my opportunites and learning experiences and was hired as a department manager for EPIC Landscape which is one of the largest landscape companies in the midwest. While I was a department manager I managed over 100 employees on a daily basis and also managed over $15,000,000 in various landscape projects. I have always had the entrepeneur itch and made the decison to start my own business in 2021 with all of the different experience I had accumulated in previous labor/management positions. Thankfully, that was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Landscape a Back Yard

The service was above and beyond. I had some rough drawings of what I wanted done in my backyard, and Cody and his crew brought it expertly to life. Everyone on the team were friendly and worked tirelessly to finish the project. On things that I was not sure about, he gave some ideas which helped to make things go smooth as molasses. The final project has had all the neighbors coming to admire the transformation of the yard, and would definitely hire again to do any more projects I might need.

He did an amazing job. I am very picky, and I called him several times asking questions before we hired him. He was always polite, nice, and very respectful. He helped us pick out the perfect color of stone. The retaining wall looks beautiful. We will be hiring him soon to do other projects .

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
