I wanted to choose zero stars for a rating about BORDNER ROOFING OF RAYTOWN, MO. Our roof was leaking so bad we had a kidde pool in the livibg room catching rain water. I gave them a huge deposit. When it started getting too cold to roof I went to their office after they kept my huge deposit for 3 months. I told them to give me my money back & they refused. I said it will be too cold to roof it properly. They promised the shingles would lay/seal down when the sun comes out & warms them up. 3 months later in the spring the shingles didn't seal down !!! They also nailed the shingles too high !!! I met with them again a few months ago in their office & they kept saying, "We stand behind our work" THEY ARE SUCH LIARS !!! They came out a few times & put silicone or tar under some shingles that buckled up or folded back. That didn't help. 5 sections of the roof are having the same problem. This isn't acceptable !!! I had 5 companies inspect the roof & they all said it was very bad workmanship, it was too cold & the shingles were nailed too high !!! I contacted the BBB & Bordner lied to them & BBB closed the case. I have photos, documents & video to prove my case !!! They damaged my home, my gutters, my lawn, some plants, they took 21 days to do the roof...other roofers said it shouldn't have taken more than a week. ☆☆☆☆DON'T HIRE BORDNER☆☆☆☆

Awful installation. One issue after another. The project was "finished" March 2024. 1) Damage to property The installation process seemed to go smoothly, but upon inspection, I noted a ripped screen, damaged windowsill, and a shorn tree trunk (small tree out in front). Clearly it was done from something falling off the roof during installation. I took photos. I sent them to the project manager (via text and email). No response. I got a call from the marketing department asking if my home (and myself) could be featured on the website. I said, sure. Fix my ripped screen first! The marketer said that she'd contact the project manager directly. She did. Finally, 2 hours later after 6 days of silence, the project manager gets back to me. He said, "I saw the photos. I asked my crew. They said that it was like that before". My response: No. It wasn't. He then said that he'd be out the next day to fix it himself. He never showed. He FINALLY showed up an finally fixed the shredded screen. (I didn't mention the squashed downspout). 2) A tile from the roof came off. I contacted the original point man, and he came out immediately to re-attach it. 3) We noticed water damage to the ceiling in the bedroom. Multiple places where there was CLEARLY water getting into the house. I've tried 3 times now to get a response. Nothing so far. AVOID THIS COMPANY.

8 June 2024 Bordner did the roofing on our home three years ago for the previous owner. The roof has failed in multiple places, leading to part of the structure needing to be demolished (they don’t know how to install EPDM) and other parts of the roof to rot out entirely. When the problem was first noticed to be attributable to the recent ‘professional’ roof work, I asked to meet with a Bordner representative on site to review the leaks. I was fobbed off. I was told they were very busy and it could be a month. I asked again and said this was unacceptable to which they said they would be out in a week. As the damage was so bad and the site progress was being adversely affected, I said I would just hire someone else to replace their work and send them the bill. They then became available to meet and insisted they would do the repairs, if any repairs were to be done by them (yet ten days later no one had even been on the roof from Bordner). I was put onto one of their director’s Kyle whom I spoke with and emailed back and forth. He was not very forthcoming with information. He tried on multiple occasions to throw people not involved in the roofing under the bus , including the framer (who did 1,000’s of projects with Bordner). I later learned the framing subcontractor refuses to do work with Bordner because of their business practices and past experiences. They sent a PM to the site a several days later. A nice chap. We had scaffolding up around the house. I offered to let him up on it to see the roof, but he declined, so I showed him photos whilst standing just under the roof. In reviewing photos we also discovered the chimney flashing was incorrectly installed. I followed up the following day with Kyle to see what was going to be done to fix the roof. He again fobbed me off and said I may hear from a different director/owner. I asked who that person was and Kyle refused to tell me. I find it ironic that the marketing director, Kyle, deals with warranty claims. This speak volumes to how the business is run. After a week and much chasing, I finally got in touch with Sam Fleenor, a Bordner director. I was clear with him that time had run out for making excuses that repairs needed to be made or he would need to reimburse for the work. He again did not take responsibility and said someone would come out next week to look at it (after the previous week someone came out met me on site but did not want to look at it). With no timeline for repairs or resolution is site, we had no choice but to hire someone else to do the work to avoid more damage to the structure. Sam was to contact me Monday with how the roof issues would be resolved. Monday came and passed and no sign of Bordner via email or phone. I contacted them at five this evening to see where they were with our claim. Sam replied and said they drove by and it looked like we made the repairs. He offered to add more silicon to their poor chimney flashing, but nothing else. After being part of completing a roughly $20k roofing job three years ago which caused tens of thousands in damages, Bordner offer only to bring a tube of caulk. As an architect of nearly three decades, I have never seen such poor workmanship and belligerence from a contractor. Highlights of their workmanship include chimney flashing caulked to the sloping side of the chimney (should be stepped and cut into mortar joints), EPM membrane screwed onto plywood so that water passes straight through and destroys the structure, water p****** out of soffits, etc. You learn the most about a company when something goes wrong. Things went terribly wrong and Bordner has damaged our home with costs exceeding $20k. They now say the 3 year old roof is out of the 10 year warranty. 3 July. Bordner refused to get up and look at their roof issues. Now they claim it’s ‘unfortunate’ and they have learned. Imagine what their response to you will be when there is a problem. 16 July Still no resolution from Bordner. Warranty is useless and Bordner insurance is non-existant. We are out over $40,000 in damages…

We had an amazing experience with Bordner Home Improvement on our siding project. From Armond taking my first call and answering questions, to Joel talking us through each option and helping us decide colors (we picked Deep Ocean and Artic White trim). From Stefanie and Crystal in the office helping with questions along the way and Cliff being available almost all day, every day during our week of install. I had so much anxiety the week of construction, not knowing what they'd find tearing off siding on a 66 year old house. Cliff was so patient and walked us through every issue that came up. He ensured all of our fears and concerns were addressed and helped us find practical solutions to some placement issues we had with vents, lights and wires on our old house. Everything looks absolutely amazing and we're so happy with our new fiber cement siding! We look forward to working with Bordner on furture home projects (next, we want a red front door)! Thank you to the entire Bordner team!

WOW, just WOW!!! I called Bornder to get a bid on a new roof. I lived in Raytown many years ago and knew what a fabulous reputation they always had. Bryan S. from Bordner came out, then came back a few days later to meet with our insurance adjuster. That is all we had to do. Bryan went above and beyond in dealing with the adjuster. Within a day, they had worked out a deal, and we were getting a new roof .....to our complete satisfaction. They brought the shingles out and had the whole roof replaced and cleaned up within three days. It is a HUGE roof. Several times, a guy named Nestor G. from Bordner came to our home, checked on the job, and ensured we were happy. All our landscaping was protected, and all the extra nails and shingles were picked up. We are extremely happy with Bordner and their work. We could not ask for more from any company. The lifetime, one-time transferrable warranty is a huge bonus. If you want to hassle-free job, call Bordner. They are the best I have ever dealt with. Gloria

Asphalt Shingle Roofing Installation and Replacement
Replaced our roof last year. We currently have 3 leaks and huge stains on our ceilings. Bordner said its not their fault the roof leaked, it was due to high winds. Old roof was 15 years old and we had many high winds in 15 years. Never a leak. Warranty is worthless, so disappointing. First I was told it was my fault because we ran our furnace humidifier too high. They told me a long story how people do this all the time, then blame them, when it is really the homeowners fault. Then when I told him we did not have a furnace humidifier, the story shifted and the high winds were the problem. We were told it was the ridge vents that were the problem, even though when you look in the attic there is no evidence of this. We had ridge vents for 15 years never a leak. He said they have tons of people with leaks and stains but it is not their fault, and not covered under the warranty, because it was not faulty workmanship. We thought they were a good company. Future customers beware, warranty does not cover rain or snow that comes in your vents. They installed the vents but are not responsible if they leak!!!! Disappointing

My wife and I are very pleased with our whole-house installation of Marvin Infinity windows. We selected Marvin on the basis of reputation and our confidence in Bordner following replacement of our roof several years ago. The installation was first rate, and weâ d like to give a special shout-out to Brian and Henry. They are skilled craftsmen and were responsive to our questions and the occasional special request. Weâ d welcome them back any day. The whole interior of the house has now become brighter and the rooms seem larger. As you know and we now appreciate, the windows are quickly and easily cleaned entirely from the inside. Where tempered glass is presently required by building code (it wasnâ t when we built) weâ re now up to code. I look forward to month-to-month comparisons of energy usage with the Marvin windows based on both their energy efficiency and weathertight seal. Ask me if I miss our old deteriorating and drafty double-hung wooden windows. Curb appeal of a house is always a subjective matter, but we noticed an improvement that was greater than we had anticipated. The finished installation fits in perfectly with our homeâ s architecture and adds a rich finishing touch. A substantial portion of the projectâ s cost will undoubtedly be recouped at resale time. In the meantime, weâ ll enjoy the results for years to come.
