Brown's Handywork

We hired Browns Handywork based on recommendations on HomeAdvisor. Project: Re-screen porch. - Paint outside shutters. - Repair 1 shutter. - Replace 2 boards on wood fence. - Paint 2 outside entrance doors. - Repair sheet rock on 2 interior walls. Results: Fail: Re-screen of porch a fail. - Mr. Brown made one follow up and repaired one badly installed section. Later (next day) we found 3 more sections with holes in the screen. We texted him and sent photos of what was found and have no response. Very poor workmanship on screens. We will have to bring in a professional to repair Mr. Browns work. Shutter paint work was good. Repair of broken shutter was satisfactory. Fence repair was satisfactory. Interior wall (sheetrock) repair was satisfactory. Fail: Painting of metal exterior entrance doors a fail. Rust is already started to show through the paint. We specifically requested the doors be stripped to bare metal on any bad spots before painting. Poor prep on painting of metal doors. We will have to refinish doors properly ourselves. Summary: Browns Handywork has been a costly and time consuming mistake.

Above All -- Honest, which is rare in today's business world. Job was for the repair of shingles around chimney from storm which resulted in ceiling damage inside. Mr. Brown got up on the roof and looked at the damage and while there saw hail damage across the entire roof which the insurance adjuster said there was none. Mr. Brown advised me to call the insurance company and have another adjuster come out . He dd not want to do the job as it might create problems with the hail damage claim. I hired him to come back and do several other jobs for me which turned out Great. He not only did the work but took pictures on his cell phone to show me what he did. He checked the exhaust vent for the stove and found that dirt doblers had built a nest on top of the trap door so it could not move freely to let the air out. Screen was installed to stop any further problems in the future. Mr. Brown also removed 2 toilets and replaced the wax rings and re-anchored them. I have hired Mr. Brown to return and do some paint work for me when his schedule will allow the work to be done.

Did about 10 small jobs for me, very good neat & efficient

I plan to use him again for my personal home needs.
