His work was subpar and he left it unfinished. He said he would guarantee his work for life but now he will not return my phone calls or text.

Agreed on May 28 to have deck joists replaced and gave Bryants Contracting a deposit check for half the agreed upon price. He delayed starting the project and finally committed to starting the 3 days of work on July 12. When he did not show up on July 12 I contacted him and received a response that he would be unable to perform the work and would refund my deposit *ASAP*. It is now three weeks past that date and I have not yet received the refund.

This man SCAMMED us. We contacted him to redo our front deck. All was well for the first half, we had even helped line up other jobs with family and neighbors. We paid part upfront for materials, then due to weather issues not allowing him to work on the porch we gave in and paid him the rest (nearly 8 grand in total) to help him with rent and bills. Our mistake. He did the base part of the deck, then never showed up the following Monday to do the railings and stairs. It took us DAYS and tracking his wife down on Facebook to get a response. He told us a story about the railings being the wrong ones and needed reordered, and it would be 2 weeks. Well 2 weeks pass and we ask for an update, and get a whole story. He cant finish the porch. He has to abruptly move. He can MAYBE pay us back for the materials and unfinished work if he can sell his camper, but that he would be gone after that coming Saturday. He openly admitted to RETURNING the railings for OUR porch in order to pay for other jobs that *fell through* and now he is bankrupt. We wont see the 2-3 grand he owes us. He left all the old materials so we now have to pay someone to discard them, and pay to finish the job. The cherry on top is that the deck is not even structural. It sags because he didnt put in the correct supports in the right places. He scammed an old woman and thought he could get away with it because he is moving to Missouri. That is not going to be the case here. We will make sure he cant do this to another person. We have also filed a report with HomeAdvisor.

Benjamin did the job efficiently and avoided extra costs. I will hire him for future jobs.

Benjamin is very experienced in working with decks. He assessed the problems he faced in bringing our 20-year-old deck back to life. Some things were loose and some extra support was needed. None of the decking needed replacing about which we were glad. Benjamin worked efficiently and finished sooner than he quoted to us, even in 15 degrees weather. . He also volunteered to do some handyman-type jobs for us. We feel lucky to have worked with Benjamin.

The young men were professional, friendly, courteous, and knew what they were doing with the work I had for them. They cleaned up after finishing and I certainly would hire them again. They were prompt and did what they said they would do, I think truly outstanding in today's younger people and work ethic.
