C & S Handyman Services represented themselves through Home Advisor as being qualified and resourced sufficiently to handle our job. When interviewed on site, they said they could complete the job within 3-4 weeks max, with 1/2 of the house being complete enough within two weeks to allow us to partially move in. C & S was pointedly asked if they had a qualified and experienced crew or adequate resources. Charles Gay of C & S represented their company throughout and stated that he did have a qualified crew and adequate experienced resources. The quote sent by Charles Gay for $11,500 for the combined services scope was sent to us vis email and accepted by us via email as well. We took Mr. Gay s word that he would provide sustained experienced and qualified resources to meet critical path timelines and the overall schedule. Mr.Gay asked for $4000 upfront, which we paid by check. We agreed to provide the major materials such as paint and stressed to Mr. Gay in writing, the importance of his getting preauthorization to buy any other material that cost more than $100. We also asked Mr. Gay to promptly provide receipts for any and all materials he and team bought so we could keep close track of project costs. Mr. Gay never produced any receipts or asked for advance approval to purchase materials that cost over $100. Work began on or about August 11. The first sign of of concerns came when Mr. Gay added 10.4 % taxes to the project cost, with no explanation, AFTER we accepted his quote of $11,500 for the combined services. We expressed surprise and concern and asked him if this was customary. His response was insufficient. To summarize, when all was said and done, Mr. Gay s resources were inadequate in number, highly inexperienced and producers of poor quality work. His wife Susan was the painter. His teenage home schooled daughter was part of the regular crew. Other limited crew members were a couple of other family who clearly were not experienced. Mr. Gay was hardly ever on the job site. We tried positive communication and encouraging words because we were and are really in a bind. On a couple or more occasions, we, pointedly told Charles Gay that his wife did not have enough of and the right kind of resources on a sustained basis to meet milestones and do our job well. There were a couple of emergency called meetings to attempt to address this. After nearly 5 weeks and increasingly poorer work results, we asked a couple of other experienced and objective local painting companies to assess the work being done by C & S. They were appalled at the poor condition of our home relative to what C & S had done and was doing. Several weeks in, we first took the cabinet refinishing part of the job from them. As they did more and more harm than good on the retexturing and painting, we asked them to stop work altogether. We would like to have our last $3500 draw or payment reimbursed. The initial payment of $4000 is fair and more than adequate for the prep work, wall paper and popcorn ceiling removal done by C & S. All other painting and texturing work done by them after the initial phase is costing us more money and time and headaches to have redone by better qualified companies or individuals.

Great, in fact have hired them to remodel kitchen and too date they are doing a great job, attentive to small changes and moving quicker than I expected

Women this is a woman friendly business. They came on time. Was polite and courteous. Did a Amazing job they cut my tree back away from my house in under 30min and cleaned up an hauled everything away without any problem. An answer all my questions. I am in love when they left I had bigs smile on my face. An very professional . Will be hire them again . An I still got shade from the tree.

Very knowledgeable and professional team. I could not be more satisfied with the overall experience. From the initial phone call through the tree trimming service to the final transaction, it was all done with high degree of friendly service and skill. Overall a great working relationship.

They did an outstanding job trimming my elm tree back from my house on very short notice. Their work was very neat and the clean-up was through and fast. I highly recommend C&H for any tree work you might need.
