I hired Campbells to do a number of jobs around my home including drywall repair, door repair, and some additional small jobs. They were quick to respond and offer solutions to keep costs at a minimum. Unfortunately, they forgot about our scheduled appointment for the work and after I called, arrived to do an initial survey (which we had already done). We agreed on new days for the work, and when the workmen showed up (requiring me to rearrange my week since they forgot my original appointment), they were only aware of some of the work, not all, requiring me to continuously review the list of jobs and the areas where the work needed to be done) In the end, the jobs that were done were done decently enough, but there are still many outstanding jobs or jobs that were not completed. Generally, the central office seems to not be well run and the communications between the initial survey and workmen lead to many workers being lost in translation - and me hiring other handymen to finish the jobs.

Exceeded expectations. Amiable customer service and decidedly professional service/cleanup. I give them a very high recommendation.

Felt like I was overcharged. Drywall install required me to do additional work to finish the project up.

We evaluated a number of local firms to conduct various small handyman jobs and choose Michael Campbell and his company Campbells General Contractor due to a combination of consultation, variety of work conducted, expertise, recommendations and fair price. The company is bonded and insured. Mike is personable, friendly, expert in his knowledge of older homes and maintenance needs and caring in helping us deal with a special needs family member’s home in DC that had falling into disrepair over a number of years. While we hired Mike for a number of jobs including replastering walls, sticky doors, trim replacement, the job expanded to a number of additional and substantial projects due to water and insect/vermin damage over years and a general disrepair we were previously unaware. Mike identified at our request areas that needed repair/replacement and he offered alternatives and recommendations. The additional work involved gutting and replacing the whole kitchen, floor underlayment, replacing all electric switches and outlets, additional drywall/plastering, bathroom floor underlayment, new cabinets & floors, outside cement work, gutter and outside rotted wood replacement around windows and painting several rooms. A fairly complete renovation! Removal of the old work and installation of the new equipment/cabinets/materials was fast, clean and efficient. The additional work was conducted quickly and with a minimum of downtime. The work was professionally conducted, Mike and his team is respectful of the residents and very easy to work with. The results were beyond our expectation – and all done at a fair, reasonable price. We would without hesitation recommend Mike and his Campbell General Contractor business for any small to large handyman/contractor in the DC and surrounding area. Claire & Jim V.

Quick to respond and get on site for initial site survey. We were able to schedule for the work in less than a week (super quick!). The technician was on time, professional and did amazing work. Would use Campbell in the future for drywall repair!

A little pricey I thought And the handyman removed a ceiling barrier without my knowledge and I was in ear distance to consult what I wanted him to remove or place back where he got it from between the ceiling and the attic. After he had used a half a bag of compound he asked me did I want him to start over after he had already spent two hours plastering that area. Go figure. Ask before you proceed but this is what happens at times when the project is subcontracted. I was just glad that the hole was repaired in its entirety. Mr. Campbell did do a follow up call shortly after the handyman departed and I told him that I was very pleased with the finished products.

Quick response and onetime arrival, including follow-up when the problem wasn't solved, can be mentioned on the positive side. However, we had two repairs that were not done satisfactory: First, a leaking bathroom issue that was not resolved, as they just applied caulk twice around the drain and repaired the drywall ceiling below the bathroom. They never searched for the cause of the leak. At the end, they just recommended to call plumber. Second, we asked to repair the mortar of the outside entry stairs. The first work was incomplete, and they had to return. Worst, however, is the fact that they used a much lighter colored mortar, stating it will match over time. After two months, this job still looks temporary and needs to be redone. In a nutshell: this contractor is quick to get the deal, but does a sloppy job executing it. It is not worth your money.
