A General Contractor with no staff of their own, fully reliant on sub contractors, but has little to no leverage or influence on the subs hired. What was supposed to be a 4 week project turned into 4 months. Demo was started on day 1, then nothing happened for weeks.

Addition to Existing Structure Building Service
Selling the vision of a project to a contractor and getting them to come in and understand that you have a budget and a timeline must be the hardest business in the land. Our contractor way underestimated the time needed to finish the job. When we asked for a fixed bid cost, we were laughed at, and in the end, the contractor nickeled and dimed us for every additional cost possible, even trying for double charges. In addition, the contractor was very condescending, implying that we were not nearly as good as his "other" customers when we raised concerns over security, timeliness, and billing.
