Quite possibly the worst rip-off and worst company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY. I purchased a generator nearly a year ago and it has never turned on in an outage. Canter promised to send a technician out multiple times and have never delivered on that promise. I was affected by the mass power outages during Christmas in 2020 in Eastern Tennessee. My generator never ran. I called for support and Canter told me it was not properly installed and that I needed to get it fixed. This was after Canters people installed and signed off that it was properly set up. I am so frustrated with them as a company as their promises are nothing more than words on a page or lip service. I can not complain to the BBB as they are no accredited, I have my opinion as to why. I have asked HomeDepot for assistance because Canter Power Systems is marketed through HomeDepot. Nothing happened through HomeDepot. Finally, Canter Promises to reimburse you for a hotel stay if you experience more than 4 hours without power during a given day. They do not deliver on this as well. I have provided receipts and they have done nothing. There is no specific person to follow up with. I reiterate my statement Do not waste your money with this company.

I contracted with Canter Power Systems, who installed our 20Kw generator in 2011, to (1) diagnose & repair faulty transfer switches and (2) to level the generator unit which, due to their installation flaw, was leaning heavily. The Canter maintenance tech quoted us $180 to level the unit. Canter subcontracted the work out & their subcontractors did not perform any electrical diagnosis of the faulty transfer switches - they simply turned the power OFF and ON several times - and they decided on their own, and without our prior knowledge or approval, to install a cement pad atop the lava rocks. Then, we received a bill for $615 from the subcontractor. We spoke with Canter who refused to do anything, & so I got counseling and was informed me that all I had to pay was the $180 - I do not owe anything for the cement pad that was not ordered & since they did not perform the necessary diagnosis & the transfer switch problem persists, I will get a different contractor to come in & do the work properly and satisfactorily, and will cease being a Canter customer. They may be "fanatically focused on outrageous customer service at every step of the purchase and installation process" but after the installation, when you have a problem, their customer service is unacceptable from where we sit.
