The absolute worst decision we have ever made was hiring Cantrells Constructionnout of High Springs, FL. It got to the point where due to Cantrell's Construction, owned and operated by Mark "Shane" Cantrell, completely abandoning our job when we pressed for completion of our single family home under the contract terms, he committed breach of contract and was FIRED!! BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. MANY PEOPLE AND SUB CONTRACTORS are looking to be made whole

My husband and I hired Shane Cantrell to build a barndominium on our property in Alachua County. We paid him $5000 to start the project. I tried to contact him repeatedly during the first weeks of our project but he became hard to communicate with: Did not respond to emails, voicemails and texts. Twice he told me he was busy with his kid's soccer games, this was a weekday. He told me he gets hundreds of calls and texts a day and can't possibly take all of them. We had two meetings with Shane. One at the property, approximately 30 minutes and a lunch meeting that lasted an hour and a half. He brought software to show us his ideas but couldn't work with it so resorted to a sketch on graph paper. After three weeks of unresponsiveness I asked for a refund - contract said refund available if no overhead work has begun. He refused giving us any of our money and stated he would send an invoice for his time spent, we never received anything from Shane. I would not recommend Cantrell Construction.
