On August 3, 2020, I contracted Steven Gilk and the Capital Asphalt Company to tear down my driveway and install a new asphalt driveway as well as extend it. Steven was very attentive and ensured me that the work would get done on time. The project was started and the problems started immediately. There was a tree stump that needed to be removed and I was told that it would be removed with the use of his equipment, instead, I was told that I would need to rent a tree stump grinder and remove it before work could continue. I rented the equipment and did not complain cause I just wanted my driveway finished as soon as possible. His guys then cut the cable wire and I was left without internet or cable while I waited for Xfinity to come and make repairs. I was upset but what bothered me most was when I spoke to his guys they denied ever cutting the wires. I spoke to Steven and his brother about the issue and his brother accused me of not paying my cable bill and said that might be the reason for the cable issue. I was insulted especially after paying so much money for the work and then you are going to accuse me of not paying my bills. Steven apologized for his brother and ensured me that he stands by his work and would pay for any damages if I was charged. Xfinity made repairs at no cost to me and confirmed that his guys did indeed cut the cable. The work took two days and they left all their equipment including a trailer and machinery on the street where the neighbors complained about the limited visibility while driving by my house. After the work was completed and the job paid in full I was going to give Steven and his company a good review only because Steven was so attentive and kept ensuring me that he stands by his work so if any issues arise he would take care of it. The first rainfall I noticed that they did not grade the asphalt properly and I had a huge puddle by my garage door. When I contacted Steven he assured me that the work would be repaired. It is now Sept 18, 2020, more than a month has passed and he has yet to live up to his word. He keeps making promises and giving me dates but nothing gets done. Meanwhile, now I have a huge puddle of water in front of my garage which I am sure during the winter it will turn to a nice sheet of ice for my kids or anyone else to slip and get hurt. I am frustrated but unfortunately, it does not seem that Steven will make good on his promise and fix the damage. If you are considering getting any type of paving work done. Do not hire this company.

Steve and his crew were professional, neat and very fast. They worked all day and finished my driveway in a single day. It looks amazing and the neighbors are all asking for his information. I would definitely recommend them. I fact I already have and my friend was equally as thrilled with the outcome.

Great communication. Very knowledgeable. They quoted me 2 to 3 weeks for the completion of my job and even with rain it was done before 2 weeks.

Don t recommend this company at all. Not Professional. Kept delaying appointment over 2 weeks. Did a really thin layer of asphalt with no durable stones base. Made my new part of the driveway uneven, and saw the big gap with my old driveway. They took advantage of me cause I did not know anything about the paving. Asked the owner to check it again and fix it. He just did not care. And the warranty is just for 1-2 years. As I know the driveway is usually warranted from 5-10 years.

Poured a concrete patio and sloped it towards the house instead of away from it. When it rains, the water runs towards the front door and water accumulates for days. Let the contractor know the issue the day after he was paid in full and he has not come back to fix the problem. It is going on 2 weeks now. Update, still not fixed after a month and a half. It has nothing to do with rain. It has everything to do with shoddy work and empty promises from the owner, Steven Gilk.
