I needed a big dead oak tree cut down and removed. The tree had been cut back quite a ways in hopes of saving it and I thought that would save me some money. I got three quotes for $3,700, $41,000 and $3,900. Cardinal cut down the tree, hauled away the wood and ground the tree stump down to six inches below ground level. All in one with no damage for $2,000 (yes, two thousand flat). I had another large oak taken down a few years ago and that time all the estimates wanted to split up the stump grounding as an additional fee. Be sure to say you want the tree gone, all the wood and branches hauled away and the stump ground down from the start so they won't try and tag the stump grinding on at the end. All the tree people asked if I wanted my other totally healthy cherry tree also cut down. Be sure to tell them this tree here and this tree only.
