    My hot water heater needed a thermocouple, and the plumber who came from Carmichael plumbing and heating diagnosed the same problem. He was prompt and courteous. He took pictures of the thermocouple needed on his phone. He stated that he needed to go, and get the thermocouple from his distributor. He was gone for an hour and a half. He came back with a universal thermocouple which clearly did not fit 2 to having only 2 wires. The thermocouple that was needed had at least 4 wires on it. He spend an hour and a half trying to figure out the issue as to why the new thermocouple did not fit. He then realized that it could not be the right thermocouple for our hot water heater. He again left my house took another 40 minutes to return. He then took the appropriate thermocouple for my unit, and it only took him half an hour to install. This whole ordeal started at 9:05 am and finished at 1: 45pm. This was clearly his mistake, and he charged us $509.00 for his time. Thermocouple replacement cost is anywhere from 100$-325$

    Our water heater started leaking on a Sunday. I waited til Monday morning to start calling plumbers. I wanted a hot water heater with heat pump that would be eligible for a $750 rebate thru Energize CT. Fred was not familiar with the program, but made a few calls to gather info, called me to discuss and then ordered the unit which was delivered later that day. Unit was installed next morning. Fred was great to deal with, communicated with me throughout the process & did a fantastic job. I even asked for a quote to install a sink in my basement. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of plumbing services.

    My house was built in 1963 and the washer water shut off was installed then. Recently it had stated leaking so I haired Carmichael to replace it. He called me prior to coming out and had me send him a picture of the valve. When he arrived he had the replacement valve and new hoses because he noticed that the connections on the existing hoses were showing signs of rust. A complete and competent job. I also had him replace the garbage disposal and this job was too done completely and competently.

    If Fred cannot repair it, no one can. He identified the problem, which was right in front of us, and we could not. Part was unavailable from manufacturer, but he found a way to find same part but better built than the original. Would definitely hire again. Great follow up, innovative in finding solutions, and his prices were reasonable

    Carmichael Plumbing and Heating was excellent. Even though they were not able to perform the repairs needed, they went out of their way to recommend another company that was familiar with the equipment and follow up to make sure that we were satisfied. Very much appreciated!

    It should be noted that this work was of a non-emergency nature. Mr. Carmichael is an experienced and conscientious plumber. The work was completed expeditiously and neatly. His price to do the work was comparable to others that were asked to bid on the work. In the future, Mr. Carmichael will be my plumber of choice.
