DO NOT HIRE JEREMY CARTER, CARTER BUILDERS or CORNERSTONE (there is a reason that he has to keep forming new companies). The reason is he is taking people's money and NOT completing the job. Do your own homework and be vary wary of contractors who are too cheap and too available!!! Get a DETAILED contract listing what specific work is to be done and when progress payments are due.

Hired Carter Builders via Jeremy Carter. Work was supposed to commence on 13-Jun-05 and be completed by 27-Jun-05. Builders Liability insurance expired and he has not been able to provide a liability insurance certificate despite my initial request for one on 21-May-05. Since contract signed has not informed me if he is showing up on the job site. Has not shown up to start job despite promising to do so multiple times. Multiple phone calls before any response. Current business phone has been disconnected. Contractor has cashed my deposit check but has not performed any work. I would not hire this contractor again.

Jeremy Carter of Carter Builders never finished our remodeling project. He left us high & dry and never returned. Our project was three quarters finished. He also did the flashing wrong on our roof & caused 2 major leaks into our living room which he never corrected. He had one excuse after another why he couldn't come back & finish the project. In the meantime, we had to hire another contractor to pick up where Carter Builders left us hanging!

I chose Carter Phillips because we were having extensive work done on my Mother's home in Westbrook, CT and I live in Long Island. I was dependent on the contractor to use his own initiative (while keeping me informed) and had to trust them on all quality issues because I wasn't there to supervise. Carter Phillips replaced the roof, siding, 11 windows, and the garage door. They also subcontracted exterior painting, chimney replacement, and electrical work. They even repaired a stone patio. The job came in later than scheduled, but most delays were due to all the rainy weather. They definitely showed initiative. When they uncovered a dangerous electrical condition, they got bids from 2 contractors before they even called me for approval, and they patiently explained why the work had to be done for safety reasons. They also encouraged me to speak to an electrical contractor of my own choice. They also did other little things which helped a lot -- when I purchased side lamps for the front door which were out of proportion for the house, they called and asked me if they should install them anyway, or if I would like to send more. They offered to buy replacements, and they chose very nice looking lamps which were perfect for the house. Communication was always excellent. Both principals carry remote devices which they use for cell phones and online email. They were always prompt in returning my emails or calls. They had one worker who was not too good about cleaning up, but the rest of the workers were fine. (I understand that the messy worker is no longer on their staff.) This is a young firm, which is working hard to establish a good reputation. If I had more work to do, I would call them without hesitation.

We are very happy so far with the professionalism and thoroughness of Carter Phillips Builders. We had to wait on a zoning board decision so our actual project won't be started until mid August so this form isnt completely filled out. They helped us immensely on the proper forms and paperwork as well as hearings, etc. So far So good!

They rolled with the punches as we changed the specifications of the job midstream. Every subcontractor was prompt and courteous and even CALLED when they were going to be late. We would hire this company again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

These guys are extremely willing and very professional. It was a pleasure to have them working here.

We we quite impressed. Everything went smoothly and quickly. We would hire them again the next time we decide to have something done.
