Celtic Masonry

We needed new entry stairs and Celtic Masonry in Lawrence was the team I decided to work with. The quote was exactly what were were willing to pay. I had never done a remodel project like this before. From the minute we met, when we discussed the project, we were offered sage advice about how to proceed. Without Jim's help this would never have gotten off the ground. His prices were competitive. His work was fastidious and quick. With his guidance we got exactly what we wanted. We're thrilled with the way the job looks and we're looking forward to many years of enjoyment. Thank you Jim et al at Celtic Masonry for the great job.

We have had a number of issues with the quality of Jim's work. A number of stones have lifted off and a number of large slabs in the walkway have moved due to ice buildup underneath. Many "grout" joints have deep holes now. And many "Joints" have lost cement from in between the stones. Our new Mason who we had to hire to fix much of this indicated Jim should NOT have used a pressure washer and should have followed industry practice. And of course nothing was straight or level , causing water and snow to pitch backwards and collect in places where it should have run off. When we mentioned this to him, he started screaming and hung up. He also apologized for having to raise the price in the middle of the job, due to he indicated he didn't take into account a number of things "he forgot" about. thus making the contract a joke, not that he finished everything anyways. Never again. He seems to stick to a popular local list, our new mason indicated he picks and chooses customers that do

Jim was very responsive to our request to rebuilding the chimney on our home. He was organized, efficient, neat and safety conscious. His work was of top notch quality and his price was extremely reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend Celtic Masonary and Jim Bresnahan to anyone as a quality masonry contractor. Jim called back within a day of me requesting an estimate and came by a couple of days. He knew immediately what had caused my front steps to fail. He started the work in a week or so. I was please that he offered me some choices and what would cost more or less. He was able to use most of the existing brick and stone. He updated me each day on how the project was going. Jim was great to work with and did a fabulous job.

Came the day before Christmas and repaired the chimney damper. Very pleased with service.

Managed to save us the cost of installing a new damper by giving me "tutorial" on how to open and close the one we have. Promised to come over, at no charge, if we get stuck on how to do it!! Nice guy too!

Workmanship was excellent, honesty also excellent. Jim repointed our chimney and while removing the scaffolding broke 2 slates. He promptly told us, flashed the roof and paid for the roof repair. He also put in new front stairs and corrected (no charge) an error. We did have to do a good deal of clean-up, not the neatest workman, but would happily use him again.

Working with Jim was a wonderful experience from start to finish. He helped us with our front landing and walkway from design to material selection. He even met with us on a weekend at the stone yard. He got right in there and worked with his team of men. He is conscientious, detailed and thorough. An honest hard working man whose work product is outstanding. A pleasure. I would recommend him in a heart beat.

The work Jim and his team did was phenomenal! Jim communicated well throughout the process and came out to do the job on a pretty cold couple of days. The work is absolutely gorgeous and has quickly become a focal point in our yard. I'd highly recommend Jim and Celtic Masonry!

Jims a friendly, easy-going guy with a good work ethic lots of experience. He and his crew did a great job on repairing my front steps, replacing the old sandstone treads with new granite and even removed and reinstalled the handrail. Others either refused to do that, forcing you to deal with a railing contractor as a separate issue or just not quoting the railing replacement/repair saying that was something that they did not do. Did not find out about THAT until it was almost too late. Jim, however, addressed that issue in an upfront and direct manner. A word to the wise...the homeowner MUST make sure the handrail issues are addressed prior to contracting with anyone. Some do not address this at all and suddenly you are left with dealing with the handrail issues on your own. Jim also removed an old and ugly flagstone walkway with poured concrete, making its wider and safer. Overall, a great job. My importantly, my wife likes it too.

This company and especially Jim was very professional and accommodating. I work overnights so I sleep during the day, but this company did more then enough to be prompt to job site, courteous to my sleep schedule, and accommodating to any other last minute requests. I am already having on price out another job at my house.

Very professional. Every day, before leaving, let me know what they had done and what will be done the next day. Always kept me apprised of any changes in the timeline due to weather or other factors. Very pleased with the work.

I'm impressed that this company worked on my front steps right through a weekend to avoid rainy weather, and that Jim always responded quickly to my calls and emails. They did a superb job at a reasonable price, and their cleanup afterward was thorough.

Celtic Masonry was the first to reply to my inquiry and we quickly set up a meeting to review the project. The chimney on the Historic Francis Wyman House had been damaged in one of the Nor'easters. Jim rebuilt the top of the chimney, reusing the original brick. When he got into it, he found that mortar for the interior flues was crumbling. He proposed a reasonable price and rebuilt those too. Jim was a pleasure to work with and provided a safe, quality, solution in a timely manner.

Very happy we hired Celtic Masonry! Jim called me within an hour of my quote request and we scheduled a time to meet within a few days. After initial visit, Jim came back a few times to discuss the project with me as we were trying to figure out what we wanted. Once we decided on a project/design, he sent me a formal quote (very reasonable and competitively priced - we had 2 other quotes to compare to) and we agreed to move forward. The work started as Jim promised and was completed on time. They demo'd our old beat up brick steps and rebuilt adding granite steps and bench. The work came out beautiful (and I’m picky!)!! I’m already getting ideas about my back steps and I wouldn’t call anyone else! Jim was great, easy to work with and always available. Thank you Jim for such great work and service!
