Overall the team did a great job!

Hiring CertaPro to remove our popcorn ceilings was one of the worst decisions we have ever made. They were sloppy, unprofessional, and their gross mishandling of our job has caused us a great deal of anxiety and stress. Everything seemed great at first. We chose them because they had good reviews, and when they came out to give us an estimate they were thorough and seemed very professional. It quickly went downhill from there. Before beginning work, Certapro told us that because our home was built in 1979, we did not need to test for asbestos before moving forward. A few days into the job, we went inside to check the progress after the crew had left for the day, and were horrified to find that our personal belongings, carpet, etc had not been properly covered as they told us they would be. There was dust and chunks from the ceiling EVERYWHERE. Covering our carpets, our furniture, clothes, childrens toys.....everything. That night a family member suggested we look into asbestos testing to be safe since pretty much everything we owned was covered in ceiling material. We immediately started calling around, and were told by 3 different environmental companies that homes built in 1979 can indeed contain asbestos. We immediately stopped work on the project and had one of the environmental companies come out to test. They told us that due to the poor job CertaPro did covering our belongings, EVERYTHING was deemed to be contaminated if asbestos was found. Everything we own. You can imagine the amount of stress we felt waiting for the results. Thankfully there was no asbestos found. We also learned that South Coast AQMD rule 1403 requires asbestos testing regardless of the home build date, a rule which CertaPro clearly violated, and in doing so put us in jeopardy of losing everything we own, risking their own workers health, and added more time onto the end of our project. Certapros contract stated that they would treat our home with the utmost respect, and properly cover all of our belongings. I feel as though our home and our belongings were completely disrespected. Not only was our home disrespected by Certapro, but we ourselves were also treated disrespectfully multiple times by their employees. When we spoke with Mac regarding our decision to stop work and test for asbestos, he told us that all the guys laughed about it He actually brought this up again when I spoke with him a few days later - he felt the need to remind me that we were laughed at by them behind our backs. We have 2 young children, and if there is ANY chance, ANY at all, that there could be toxic, cancer-causing asbestos in our home, there is no way we*re bringing our family back in there unless we know for sure that it is safe. To hear that we were laughed at over this is infuriating. Furthermore, did they want their employees exposed to that? We sure did not. We spoke with multiple environmental companies who all agreed that there was a risk of asbestos in our 1979 home, and that work should be stopped immediately until testing had been done. They also told us that work should have never been started in the first place without testing. My husband was also laughed at when he asked their employees not to smoke cigarettes in front of our open front door, as we do not want smoke in our home. Their response was to make a joke about it, rather than apologizing or acknowledging his request. Complete disrespect. It has been months since Certapro completed our job, and I*m STILL cleaning up their mess. To their credit, they did what they could to try to make things right by paying for our home to be cleaned, etc. But in my opinion there is no way they could truly make things right. They have robbed us of so much time and caused so much stress and anxiety. If I could go back and do it again, I would keep our ugly popcorn ceilings rather than go through this awful experience

One word can describe my review of Mac and his team of professionals: AWESOME! I needed to have a 50-year old pergola painted and treated for mold. When Mac first looked at it, he surprised me by being able to push his fingers through the dry rot in many of the slats and one of the main support beams. His quote included power wash, remove/replace dry rot wood, sanding entire structure, caulking, priming and painting with an estimate of 4 days. After the 2nd day, I noticed a couple of details which I thought needed to be addressed and contacted Mac to discuss. He came right over to assess the situation and got the project back on track. The workers did an OUTSTANDING job and Mac is one of the most dependable and honest representatives I have ever worked with. The pergola looks FANTASTIC!! I am very grateful to Mac and the entire team for all their hard work and I whole heartedly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an honest, professional paint crew. I am More than Happy with the outcome of my condo being painted by CertaPro! This was my first time having a place of my own being painted. When Mac came out to give me a quote we "hit it off" right away. He was very humble, patient, understanding (because I'm going through a divorce after 23 years of being married), helpful, and Honest. When Mac got here I (thought) I had my colors picked out, the scheme of the paint, as well as any other ideas that (I thought) I had. But Mac patiently listed, then eventually gave his input and I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW HAPPY I WAS that he did. Because if I wouldn't have let him give me his opinions and suggestions it would have been/looked like a disaster AND I would have probably enede up having my place painted again! In addition to the Awesome work that Jenner (the Painter) and his partner did, Mac gave me a quote and said that "their may be a chance that if his guys finished early, the price could be less!" When I was given the invoice it was literally $400 less that the original quote. No BS! I'm not sure if I'll be able to leave pictures after this part, but just in case I can't, I'll give a short description of what I had done. I was looking to have my walls painted as well as my popcorn ceiling painted (some crazy idea my soon to be Ex-wife...who I'm still good friends with) gave me. So I wanted to go with BERH Brand Marquee-One Coat Chance of Rain on the walls, and Dawn Gray on the ceiling/popcorn. The day before my job was to start Mac called me and (humbly and patiently) explained that he had some reserve about how the idea I had might make my already kinda small place look even smaller, so he spoke with his (Sherwin Williams) Paint Rep and ran the idea across him. They both thought/agreed that it would make my place look small and he just wanted to give me their input, but ultimately let me decide. I told him that I Trusted their expertise and reminded him that this was my first "Solo-Rodeo" and I'd go with what they thought. Again, I'm very, very glad that I did. I Absolutely Love it!

The salesman who came to my house to give the quote was very knowledgeable and gave a reasonable quote. Based off that and their reviews on here, I hired them. Now I wish I d hired the rude guy who swore up and down that he did fantastic work. The power washing didn t get all the dirt off. Then their painting job was like something I could have done. They missed spots and the paintbrush went over onto spots it shouldn t have. Then when I noticed a large potion that was somehow missed, when I called the foreman he didn t remember my house at all and kept saying I needed to call the office; that he wasn t able to get in to our house. Overall I would not recommend the franchise that works Long Beach, CA. You re better off hiring someone else

They were polite, on time, completed their work in the time they said they would, and the quality was excellent. I would definitely recommend them.

After a day an half on the job, I fired them. They did not start out by doing all the prep work first, instead they started spraying the stucco, on a windy day, and got over-spray on my roof and since they didnt cover anything, over-spray got on plants and bikes and other things. Jeff who is the manager was not very receptive to criticism. Although they were the highest bid, I chose them because I thought they would provide a superior paint job. However, they were lousy. I would not recommend them to any one.

CertaPro painters were INCREDIBLY helpful. They were clean, moved heavy furniture that I couldn't budge and got the rooms beautifully painted, even covering graffiti on one wall that occurred when I had a home 'invasion' while in the hospital for two weeks. I am thrilled with the bead board wainscoting they did in the master bedroom, the color advice they provided and the professional job they did. Much, MUCH lower price than I had been quoted by another company who bid more than twice as much. It was still a trifle expensive, but worth the outcome ! Very Pleased, highly recommend. I wanted Sherwin Williams paint and they use this almost exclusively because of it's quality.

The crew worked quickly and did a great job. They did a final walk through with me and took care of every last detail. I am especially impressed with their warranty policy that 30 days before it expires they will contact me a come do touch-ups if needed.
