Mark did 90% of the work well, but I have had zero luck getting him to finish the last 10% of the work. DO NOT PREPAY, you will have no recourse to get him to finish the work.

In the world of Monroe County, where half of the available contractors have Keys Disease with no sense of urgency, and the other half practice price gouging due to the scarcity of contractors working in the county, Mark from Keys Custom Construction is indeed a rare gem. I contracted with Mark to bring a pool deck up to code which had been built without a permit. Mark treated my situation with the same urgency as if it were a larger scale project, and gave me a very reasonable price for the scope of work involved. Mark is professional, responds to communication very promptly, and completes his work in a timely manner, while dealing with the complacency of most of the Keys building departments, which have no regard for the priorities or individual circumstances of homeowners. I would highly recommend Mark and Keys Custom Construction for any home project, regardless of the scale or complexity of the work.

Poor businessman but not too bad as a contractor if you can get in touch with them and get them to actually show up. I have additional work to be done and have been told several times in the last two-and-a-half months that they would be here but never showed up and never called. Phone calls are not returned for days.
