Very hardworking young man would hire again

I hired this contractor ? Jose Orlando Lopez Sostre, operating as Charlotte Y Home Improvement out of Meriden, CT ? for a roof replacement plus a small interior job, and it turned into a complete loss. I paid $10,200 up front ($9,200 by cashier's check for the roof, $1,000 for the interior) and over roughly eight months not a single part of the job was ever done. He kept me waiting with texts saying materials were ordered and a dumpster and drip edge were coming, but nothing happened. He never handed over one supplier receipt, the only thing delivered was a lone pallet of shingles, and after I sent a certified letter demanding my money back, he refused to return it. On top of that, his Connecticut contractor license (HIC.0653448) comes up as DENIED. I've since filed complaints with the CT Department of Consumer Protection and the police and have legal counsel involved. Do your homework before hiring ? check the state license lookup first, and never pay in full before work begins.

We are very disappointed with this contractor, we tried, to vent and look the other way but he just skipped from following up with his mistakes.

We've had an excellent experience working with Jose and his whole team at Charlotte Y Home Improvement! I have an 1873 historic Victorian home, and so many exterior paint companies that came with great reviews and experience didn't want to deal with the numerous issues our house came with. Everything from rotted wood siding, to lead paint, my house was due for a complete overhaul. And that is exactly what Jose and his crew were able to do. They dealt with the lead paint in accordance to all safety protocols and within a few weeks had the whole house scrapped, sealed, repaired all carpentry work, and painted. The result is beyond my hopes and dreams. People from all over our neighborhood stop by to compliment how great a job they did and how amazing the house looks. With Charlotte Y, the communication was constant, and nothing was overlooked. They really came through and gave us so much in the quality of work. Another owner of a historical home in the area was so impressed, they've now hired Jose to do multiple jobs at THEIR house as well (including exterior painting and windows and more!). I will definitely hire Jose again whenever I need contractor services for our home in the future!

Too many promises, no real job, bad quality, and timing, they left the contract without finishing the job, but I paid them half of what they asked, so I lost my money and did not get a result. They left the apartment very dirty. Very bad experience with this so-called company. I would not recommend them to anyone.
