Rich Peavey Masonry and Chimney Serv

Rich performed half the work but failed to complete the job. For months he told me he would finish "next week." Seven months later, the work is still not done and his phone is disconnected. Avoid this contractor.

I do not recommend Richard Peavey Masonry and Chimney Service. Payment was requested in advance before any work began on our chimney. Despite being referred to by a trusted source, after sending a Venmo deposit, the contractor failed to start the project and did not return as promised over a three-week period. Multiple requests for a refund were met with repeated excuses. Due to this unprofessional conduct and lack of accountability, we are now considering legal action. Proceed with caution when engaging this individual or company. Do not hire.

Rich took a 1400 dollar deposit on May 3 2025. Promised to do the work between Mother's Day and Father's Day 2025. He never showed. After a few weeks we kept calling and testing. He kept saying next week, next week. Needless to say he never showed up. By October we called and told him we wanted our deposit back, we would get someone else to do the work. He said ok. As of today Jan, 16 2026 we have not heard from him or received our deposit back

I hired Rich in April 25 to demolish and rebuild my cement front stairs. He wrote on the contract that the work was to be completed by the end of May. Needless to say, he never attempted to do the project. I confronted him via text message in October that I wanted my deposit back. He apologized stating that he had to fire a bunch of people (sound familiar to anyone?) and had run into some personal problems. He promised to refund my deposit. When he failed to keep his commitment, I notified him that I was going to file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office, he did not bother to respond. I filed the complaint. I hired him because he had 5 stars on Angie. I don't understand how this rating was possible. I strongly advise seeking a different contractor.

Walkway retaining wall veneer with new stairs. 22,000 cost. Update from my September 2025 review. After posting my experience online review about my dissatisfaction with the work and job not being completed. We both agreed to stop the work (after one year)and Rich to send me a total of 5,000 for broken stone stairs and incomplete work. A check was sent by Rich for the additional 2,500 after my first review was posted online in September this year. Funny how that works. I also noticed that another customer had hired Rich to performed some work. Then like me Rich hired another mason to perform the work without ever finishing the job. Just like the other review Rich said he fired that person. Same story Rich told me. See a patten here, that odd or a common practice? Gave one additional star to my first review due to Rich Peavey sending the second check for 2,500.

I hired Rich to install an insert in my Chimney for a pellet stove hook up which was completed for $2600. While he was there, he pointed out that my front porch which was brick was failing which I knew and he quoted me approximately $4000 for bluestone and Beach stone. About six months later, Rich sent a subcontractor over to do the work and he spent three days doing nothing. After the third day I told Rich the work wasn't getting done. He came over and couldn't believe he was paying his guy $500 a day and nothing was done. Rich told me he fired him and would finish the job himself. Once Rich started the work, I told him numerous times to make sure the pitch flowed away from the house since it pooled and flowed towards the house. Mid-way through, just with my eye I could see the pitch was towards the house. I put water and a level on it and showed him the pitch was wrong. I paid for half the job and promised to pay in full once fixed with a contract. No response after that.

Rich and his team were fantastic to work with! He was very responsive to all my questions and even came out on a Sunday to look at the project. Our chimney looks beautiful and they were able to accommodate our tight timeline. Price was extremely reasonable compared to the other quotes I received. Hire Rich and his team for your next masonry project. You will not be disappointed! Highly recommend.

From start to finish Rich was the absolute best. He came to our house as our third chimney rebuild estimate, and I knew right away he was the one for us. He was clear in his communication and plan. Rich and his team meticulously broke down our (HUGE!) old chimney from the roof line up and replaced it with beautiful new brick and flashing. Rich and his team were kind, professional, and clean. Rich did a spectacular job rebuilding my chimney. What I appreciated most was that Rich said “…don’t worry, I’m going to make it look really nice…” and he delivered. This is our second time calling Rich in an emergency situation and we are so grateful for his help. After an old, failing chimney was pushing our oil heat system’s exhaust back into the house, Rich came in a few days later and replaced our entire chimney with a new one. We are now able to live comfortable using our heat without breathing in toxic fumes. Very thankful for his experience, extremely quick communication, and genuine desire to do great work and fix our home’s malfunction. Highly recommend!!

Great job by Rich and his crew replacing a broken damper and thoroughly cleaning the flu which was coated with stage 3 creosote. Can now safely use the fireplace without any smoke back draft.

Service provided: repointed and capped brick chimney and repaired 2 brick staircases. Rich and his employees were friendly, professional and highly skilled. Rich was reliable and timely when returning calls. The project was completed in a timely fashion, and I was pleased with the results. Pricing was also competitive among other local contractors.

Very competent. Good clean chimney process. Fixed a flue issue and no extra charge. Also picked up on a brick and motor issue at the top of the chimney not easily visible from the ground.
