The end results of the project was wonderful - getting there was a bit stressful. My husband and I are newer home owners - so this was our first "remodel". Bob was very friendly and helpful and gave us a great rate. If I had this to do over again, I would of demanded a meeting up front to go over the quote, and asked for a "breakdown" of each item included in the quote. It took a few phone calls and e-mails to understand exactly what was included in the quote, as well as what I had to do to pick out materials. There were some things I needed to understand better in order to make decisions.

"We met with Husband & Wife on a Sunday morning to discuss the job before the project began and all details were provided before hand. We provided 7 line items on the estimate. We were available to her 24/7,via e-mail & cell phones. We left her notes @ the job daily, she told us how much she apreciated our great comminication."

Although I originally dealt with the owner, other employees did the job. They did everything discussed , and I was pleased with their work. My patio, some 25 plus years old, looks as close to new as one could expect. It has once again become the focal point of our back yard. I would in the future, get more details of the job in writing. Although in this case everything worked out well, it took a few phone calls to get things settled.

"The other employees were also Owners as this is a Family Business. The gentleman asked for some new slag sand that was not included, but we got it for him upon request. This was not a problem."

Their entire team did a great job from beginning to end. The crew was very courteous and attentive throughout the duration of the project. We had a lot of special requests, from noise concerns to cleanliness issues to materials to timing, and everything went very well. Robert was also able to improve the design of the remodel and provided research on a few concerns as well. They also coordinated with us on the selection of a few plumbing fixtures allowing us to buy them ourselves and save some money which was appreciated. Robert also provided a detailed and easy-to-read budget and kept to it. We would definitely use again. -John n Sue

Although I only put Good and not very good for "performed high quality work" I am of belief there is always room for improvement. Not that Bob and his crew did not deserve it, I just strive for doing better. I love my new closet and would use Clarkston Home Improvement again........

Bob is a very good project manager. He kept us well informed and called us back asap whenever we had a question. He gets a 10 in our book. If he had showed us pictures of bath units before hand (we didn't know what we wanted exactly so pictures would have helped) he would get a 10+++.

Basement Remodeling
This company started to finish my basement on March 20,2006. In their quote it stated " The approximate completion datae of Contractor's work shall be 4-25-06. ". Six weeks. I thought that would be a little long, since my son's took 3 1/2 weeks. But I signed anyway. We are at almost 11 weeks, and I have a list of 23 things he still has to do.

We estimated the cost to install Stained wood trim, cabinets and moldings the company he hired had skipped out on installing. It was reported by this consumer they very proud of his Clarkston Home Improvement basement finish and it was worth the wait."

It is taking a long time (2 month insted of 2 weeks) but we got what we wanted.

"We had a setback because of a cracked Whilrpool tub delivered from the manufacturer, then the replacement was the wrong hand LH not RH the third tub was installed and beautiful. 4 or 5 weeks later."

The project was completed on August 3 and we have not received the final bill yet. The revised estimate was brought to the site the day they started the job after a promise to deliver the estimate the day prior

"The customer called @ 3:00 PM the day before we were to begin work to add a single shut-off valve to the job. This increased the cost of the job by $15.00 and I told her I would try to drop off a copy but I was unable to do this. So I had the installation crew deliver it. This was a small job and she was in and out of the hospital during the work."
