1.0 Jack N. San Jose, CA

Avoid at all costs. Owner is Jack Crocker and he is an expert spinster. He has multiple businesses, typically including the name Classic (e.g., Classic Home Improvements, Classic Home Exteriors, etc.). They threaten negative reviewers personally and for defamation, maintaining mostly high reviews received (which is a small fraction of jobs given theyve advertised doing ~70 jobs per year). They manipulate customers billing before things are finished and have a track record of cutting corners, painting over things, and damaging property and when that happens, THEY WILL NOT MAKE IT RIGHT. They caved in our friends house foundation and literally demanded money to fix it, then left them high and dry and ultimately folded their main entity, Classic Home Improvements, to avoid being held accountable. They have offices, showroom, trucks, etc. Jack and wife Nicole do anything and everything to spin the blame on the customer and put on a polished, professional presence with any negative reviews. Find and read the negative reviews for Classic Home Improvements from the others whove been used by Classic, blamed, and left with many thousands of dollars of damages and unfinished work once the company gets in over its head and Jack threatens and stonewalls. The worst part is they are able to convince trusting people willing to pay top dollar that they are a longstanding legitimate business, not a fly by night operation. But they are the latter. They closed Classic Home Improvements entirely leaving many customers high and dry, privately threatening, and putting on a professional, polished face publicly in response to the few who maintained negative reviews. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

The work was well done with a few problems.

    Response from Company:

Thank you for your business and for your feedback on working with our team. We, of course, strive for 5-star reviews, but we also understand construction has hiccups so we absolutely appreciate your taking that into consideration when you provided your review. Considering the times, we are very thankful for your business and your feedback. We will be reaching out to you to learn more about your experience in-depth so we can continue to grow as a team.

Our finished product exceeded our expectations! Our project manager, Royce, and our field technician, Kevin, were extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the project. Their communication was professional and to the point. Kevins assistant, Chandler, was fantastic and always kept the job site clean. We love our new kitchen!

    Response from Company:

Thank you so very much for your review, it is truly appreciated and your kitchen is absolutely stunning, we love it!!

2.0 Ken B. San Diego, CA

They were very nice people with good customer service but were in a hurry to get the job finished and move on to the next job and as a result, the quality of the materials used and the finish work was not up to my expectations. They used inferior wood for the surface of my deck and railings with many knots, imperfections and saw marks showing! I assumed that they would hand pick the best wood from the lumber yard for the deck surfaces and then sand and paint the wood for a nice uniform smooth surface. As a result, I have asked them to come back and sand and replace many of the surface wood they used. For the amount i paid, ( they were not the lowest bid) I expected a very nice smooth wood deck. I did not get that.

    Response from Company:

Ken, thank you very much for your business and we appreciate that you mentioned in your review that we have a nice team with good customer service. I am sorry you felt the team was in a hurry, we do try to start and complete projects as quickly as possible, but it is for the benefit of the clients, not so we can move on to the next project (most of our customers want their jobs completed as quickly as possible). I appreciate you bringing it to our attention that we did not properly set expectations. Wood is a natural element and therefore will have knots and imperfections, we are happy to come out and perform any additional sanding you may like but the only way to have a completely uniform appearance is to use synthetic wood decking (composite decking, such as Trex). Going forward we will be sure to have more detailed conversations with clients to set expectations properly. Again, thank you for your business and for your feedback. Respectfully, Nicole Crocker

    1.5 Joseph K. Oceanside, CA

The Owner is very trustworthy and an EXCELLENT salesman. The work result from a $30K+ bathroom remodel was very painful due to personnel changes and sub-par sub performance and job supers being idiots. Cabinets did not fit, had to redesign the project. I had constant bickering over work to be done correctly and mistakes they made and they tried to tell me it was acceptable. I am not an idiot. I HAD to keep a punch list of work/progress or it would have been a disaster. I DO NOT want to tarnish their rep BUT I would never hire or recommend them to anyone I like. Work was done in May-Aug 2018. I hope they have changed.

    Response from Company:

Hi Joseph I have sent you a private message as I am concerned about this review. Work was completed on your home on September 17th, 2015 (not 2018 as you suggested). Yes, many things have changed over the last 4 years and I can not comment on your project or any flaws our team had at that time because our team has changed so significantly over the years. We continually strive for improving processes and procedures (now, just as we did back then). We never leave a project until clients say they are 100% satisfied with the end result and my notes reflect that of your project. If you have a warranty or customer service concern please feel free to reach out to me directly, I am more than happy to make sure you are well taken care of. Regards, Nicole Crocker

Simply the best, a shining star in Socal. From the initial meeting with Gordie Guthrie super salesman and great guy to the final OK with Managers Dan White and Royce Rams Ramswick it was about as smooth as it could get. Kelly Walla does and absolutely superb job of helping you pick out everything, Kelly is a wizard with design. The star of the bunch is technician Kevin Kries, what an eye for detail this guy has, give Kevin a raise! Chandler is an up and coming amazing worker as well, there whenever you need him. Nicole Crocker and the office staff are great to work with too getting back to you almost immediately if you have a question or problem. The Pergola turned out perfect.

We are absolutely floored with the service that we received from Classic Home Improvements. From start to finish, they took care of every detail. They helped us modify our house from an embarrassment of a home, to one of beauty and functionality that we never realized that it could be could be. Throughout the process the team dealt with our ever-changing demands and addressed our every concern. We couldn’t be happier with the service we received. Andrea, Kelly, Yvonne, Kevin, Shane, Stephanie, Joe, Chandler, and Royce the super star provided us with the best service we ever experienced. The crew was at our home on time every day. We enjoyed seeing a steady progress they made. Everyone was friendly, helpful and courteous. This made us comfortable with them being alone in our home. We have had our share of bad contractors, it was refreshing to work with an organization that puts their customers first.

    Response from Company:

Thank you so very much, both for your business, and for your amazing review of everyone you worked with! What an absolutely amazing tribute, we truly appreciate it!
