Marlin D. Jones did a fantastic job with our drywall repair here in Hampton. They were quick to respond, showed up right on time, and the patch job is completely seamless?you can?t even tell where the damage was. Professional, clean, and highly recommended!

In addition to repairing a ceiling after plumbing work, Mr. Jones also repaired several stress cracks in drywall in several rooms. His work quality is excellent and we are very pleased. We have recommended Colonial Construction to several neighbors and friends.

Warning! He can say I am an angry customer. I really am not. Just very disappointment in the lack of professionalism. Not professional at all. No comunication with the customer. All about paying half up front and didn't buy the supplies with the money. I see all the reviews on here giving him 5 star. I'm just saying not reliable at all. I am not on here to bash anyone. I'm here to bring awareness for this business. All I'm going to say is you've been warned. He is a money pit.

Mr. Jones and his son were wonderful. I had several repairs (holes, cracks and dog scratches) that had to be patched, re-textured and repainted and they did a fantastic job. They were able to duplicate the fancy Chesapeake Swirl texture that was on our walls and they color matched the paint to perfection. They completed the job in the quick time frame that they had given us and left the area's where they did their work spotless. I have some other projects that I will be calling them for help with in the future.

Marlin Jones did a super job on my cracked drywall and nail pops. I watched him do some of the work and found him to be extremely skilled in applying joint compound, feathering it, and finishing it. His work crew was very attentive to detail as well as polite and courteous. I would hire him again.

Mr. Jones and crew (his sons Devon and Jacob) did an excellent job repairing the drywall in my half bath, reattaching the t.p. holder and touching up the paint in both the bathroom and matching walls in my kitchen. They were extremely nice to work with, cordial and very careful not to make a mess. Everything was clean when they left. They arrived as scheduled and finished on time. I am very delighted to find a local company with their caliber of service. I would hire them again anytime I need the services they provide. I definitely recommend Colonial Construction to others.

Marlin Jones was hired to install a pocket door in my my master bathroom. His estimate was reasonable and he and his partner together did an outstanding job. They took care in protecting and covering the work area and surroundings. And was very thorough in cleaning up when their work was complete. Marlin went over everything to ensure the job was done to my complete satisfaction. Job well done!

Marlin did an excellent job repairing my tile ceramic shower enclosure. I live in another state and was not able to be on site. Marlin work with me and send pictures when the project was completed. He definitely went above and beyond. He did a great job and would not hesitate hiring him for other future projects.

Marlin D. Jones: I hired Mr. Jones to do a sheet rock repair in my bath consisting of replacing a part of the ceiling damaged by water leak on second floor and preparing the walls and ceiling for paint. He was prompt with his bid and I felt it was a good start to negotiating $600.00. I asked if he would be interested in installing a vent fan that I had just purchased and was planning on installing myself. Along with the fan I had purchased the following: 6 ft of 4 inch duct, a 4 inch flex elbow, small roll tape, and an outside vent cover. Mr. Jones rather reluctantly tacked on an amount $300.00 for the fan installation that I agreed to. Today Mr. Jones showed up on time with his helper Richard Monday. They got right to work removing the damaged sheetrock. Then they started to install the fan. Mr. Jones decided that I didn’t have the correct stuff. He and his Richard went off to get what they felt they needed to complete the vent fan installation. They came back after quite a long while with various fittings and duct tape. Mr. Jones and I negotiated an additional cost for the material $20.00. The two workers went to the back yard where they started by cutting a rather large hole in my soffit just outside the bath. I had a chance to look into this hole and discovered that the hole went right into one of the roof overhang supports. Approximately 1/3 of the underside of this roof support was dug out to accept the soffit vent cover that was part of the fittings that Mr. Jones had brought back from the first trip to the store. Then they cut a hole from inside the bath right out the bottom of the 2nd story wall. It is way above the hole in the soffit or 1st story roof. Oops. I guess not enough thought and measuring was done prior to cutting. In the end, I agreed that Mr. Jones could install the soffit vent cover and provide a wall mount vent cover. This is exactly what Mr. Jones has done. All this took the better part of the day. Once the fan was installed it took no time at all for the sheet rock to be hung on the ceiling. Quick as bunnies. Mr. Jones then said he would be here tomorrow morning to perfetape. They both left. The bath was left rather in a big mess it took me better than 30 minutes just to make the room usable for bathing and teeth brushing. (Personal observation. Mr. Jones seems to be a typical contract handyman. His contract is very simple statement of work. It was drafted on a standard statement pad the day Mr. Jones arrived to do the job. As an engineer, I like better more detailed contracts but realize it’s not practical to have this for such a small job. I don’t think Mr. Jones has installed many bath vent fans. It took all day to install this one and hasty backward operation cost a lot of time and money for Mr. Jones. Hope sheet rock skills are better today.) Marlin and Richard showed up about 8 this morning. They have put the first layer of perfetape and are now waiting for it to dry. Jones and Richard left before noon. I saw Richard at Home depot when I went to get pain and return unneeded vent. They left the bath in a mess again with a big fan that I had to move to clean and use the bath. I’m glad I had stuff covered because even though these guys were not carful to keep the covers in place I found sheetrock mud every ware. Took 20 minutes to get the bath usable. Mr. Jones has finished skimming and perfetapeing the bath. All that is needed is sand and touch up that is supposed to happen this morning. I did find the front water left on at the house this morning. Another lack of attention to detail. last sanding going on now. Looks very good. I’m completely satisfied with work accept for the minor things mentioned above.

Marlin Jones is a perfectionist. He will give you a fair estimate and follow through. I have used him four times, and have been very satisfied each time. Recently we needed some additional "emergency" repair work. He immediately responded, surveyed the areas to be corrected and completed the work in his usual outstanding manner. He can always be counted on when expert help is needed.

He charged $1275. I paid $700 down and he stated he would be done by Sunday. He finished Monday and I gave him the remaining $575. He was upset he didn't get any extra money, I stated it was because it was a day later than stated for completion but he was paid in full, He was upset, and I saw him dump dirty water in my yard and texted me and stated he felt that I ripped him off. I blocked his phone after that. Everything was fine until the end of the job.
