About us

Comfy House Conservation Services, Inc., has been" helping people have better homes" since 2005. We started out by offering people HVAC load calculations and duct design locally and on the internet. In 2006 we expanded our services to include home energy audits and home performance testing on new houses. We are pleased that we have received awards from the EPA for our home performance work with the Energy Star program for 2011,2012,2013, and 2014. Last year we tested over 1000 new houses for IECC 2009 code compliance. In the fall of 2013 we began contracting deep energy retrofit improvements on existing houses. Our unique air sealing methods and standards set us apart from other insulating contractors. We adhere to BPI and RESNET standards. Therefore we require a walk through or full service energy audit before we offer a deep energy retrofit quote. Please contact us If you would like us to " help you have a better home". Our average improvement cuts infiltration by 44%.

Blown In Insulation Install or Upgrade

Tom’s crew did an excellent job insulating my house. They showed and explained to me their work step by step. They even went a bit beyond to fix some minor problems that really had nothing to do with the job they were doing. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I hired them to do an energy audit of a home I was considering buying. I eventually bought the home and Comfy House did the attic sealing (to avoid heat loss) and general contractor for the entire project. I bought the home with a FHA 203(k) loan. I cannot stress how much paperwork and background checking this required. Comfy House agreed to provide the required paperwork, certification and more every time. They were pleasant and polite and did not delay in providing it even when it was more then they were told when they agreed to the job. I was also impressed because after the first energy audit they explained that the house had an excellent and very valuable baseboard heaters that did not need to be replaced. That saved me a lot of money. I did not know much about heating systems going into this project and they definitely could have told me to replace it and earned themselves a pretty penny, but instead they told me to keep what I had, it was great quality, well installed and would last for years! I cannot rate Tom and his crew highly enough, and will use them for future projects.

Project - Air Sealing, Insulation, Duct Sealing, Blown Insulation, Foam Board Insulation. Project outcome: This is quoted from Brian Keech, another Energy Auditor professional with Tom, "the final % reduction in air leakage was 48% (Blower Door Test Before Improvements 3,741 cfm, After 1,933 cfm)" Also, our first winter month bill seemed to be cut in half. We will have to see what comes of the following months. Our upstairs was so cold in the winter, I had to bundle up to go up there. So, we almost never used it. Now, it's the warmest place in the house. Customer Service - Tom is a very passionate, hard working, friendly individual. He seemed to always have our best interests in mind, and was very accommodating to our requests (we had a few). He sat down with us before and after and explained everything thoroughly. The gentlemen that worked with, or by themselves sometimes, were to themselves (which is fine). However, they did leave the gate open multiple times, so the dog escaped once or twice and a couple attempts. Quality - The quality of the project in the end was very good. We had a second 3rd party energy auditor come in and gave the project a good review, except a couple things. He wanted the weather stripping on the knee-wall doors improved, and better sealing/insulation around the addict access panel. Tom seen that these were improved. Also, when the project was finished, Tom saw that the carpets were cleaned with a carpet cleaner, the walls wiped down and any other mess that was made. The blown insulation did make quite a mess which, as mentioned, was cleaned up. However, we did have a fine layer of insulation on some furniture that I didn't notice until I started itching. No problem though, just a quick wipe down was sufficient. There were a couple things that I had thought could have been done better. I mentioned them to Tom, and he agreed and fixed them himself. What I mentioned was the duct work still had some air leaks that were visible, some walls that had insulation installed were poorly cut and not sealed. Again, these were all fixed and I doubt that Tom would have allowed these to be the final product, even if I hadn't mentioned it. Cost - The project seemed to be a fair price. We were getting help in the form of a home energy relief from the government (i think it was). We wanted to maximize the amount we got, and Tom helped us reach this goal. He did go a little more above than we anticipated, but worked with us on removing/changing some aspects of the project that we didn't think were pertinent. Details - Overall: They did a blower test a few times, before and a couple after. They also installed a chimney balloon (which is what prompted a second blower door test after). Addict - Knee-walls fitted with foam board insulation, sealed with expanding foam. Floors, Peaks, Addict crawlspace were seal with expanding foam where possible and blown with insulation. Installed circular tubing in

Comfy house was incredibly helpful from the home energy audit to the insulation installation. Mr. Branch was great to work with and we were very pleased with the way it turned out. Looking forward to lower heating bills next winter!

He know this business very well. He came as promised with an assistant and spent almost three hours going over things. Have not revived the written report though my situation is more likely complicated. Extremely helpful he said that he manages contractors for new construction to make sure house are built with energy efficiency. I plan to have him help me with continuing advise on my do it mostly myself Rehab.
