In August 2021 I hired Concrete Craft to do a concrete floor in my basement. They began work in November 2021. I wanted their MarbleKoat product finish, which they said they could do. Then at the last minute it turned out that the MarbleKoat product wasn't available, but, they said, they could match it by hand. They could not. But I approved the finish, and let them seal the floor. After they applied the seal to my floor there were literally dozens of spots all over where they'd sealed in hairs and black goop, and multiple spots along the edges of the walls were no seal was at all, making the finish uneven. I had to call them back to my house 2x to fix some (though not all) of that. The owner, Mark, *insisted* that it was totally normal to seal in hairs and black goop, and that the edges of the floor were just fine. He was proud of the work done. And *then* I found out that the workers had dumped multiple buckets of concrete dust and leavings into my self-draining gravel dog potty-spot in my backyard, splattering concrete all over my fence and patio furniture in the process, and leaving a trail of concrete dust hardening on my and my neighbor's newly paved driveway. I had to have their workers come back ***multiple times*** to try to clean it up. While they did clean up the splatters on my fence and furniture, they refused to properly clean out the gravel. They left the gravel so completely clogged with concrete that it would not drain, and I personally had to spend 15+ hours and a lot of money in supplies to clean it out myself. Through the entire process the owner Mark was rude, condescending, and acted like he couldn't figure out why I was upset, and like I was being completely unreasonable. All I ever asked regarding the mess they made on my patio was that they restore it to its original condition. They refused. I have multiple photos and videos of the damage which I shared with Mark, and would be happy to share with anyone else who asks.
Response from Concrete Craft of Colorado Springs
"Erica, Thanks for your review lady. We certainly appreciate the feedback as we consistently strive to achieve the very highest standards for quality installs. Most importantly great consumer relations and 100% customer satisfaction is something I personally strive for every day as the owner of the company. I was surprised to see your review after almost a year following the installation date of your floor. As the owner, I am realistic about installs and realize mistakes take place and finishes do not always come out the way the customer envisioned but I remained engaged and communicated with you personally addressing each of your concerns. Yes, the Marblekoat product was no longer available through the supply line and vendor-related challenges that the entire country was experiencing because of COVID and its aftermath, so I apologize we were unable to deliver that exact product to you. With that said we did a very similar system and finish (as agreed upon and discussed) which yielded the same results and certainly a dramatic improvement from the starting conditions. Regarding the floor finish and contaminants, some did make it into the final finish, and we returned on several occasions to address those areas so I am not sure when you took the pictures but zoomed in pictures are never proportional or representative of the greater finish and beauty of the floor. My crews spent a great deal of time vacuuming and cleaning the floor prior to each application but even given the best possible mitigating measures, contaminants can and will sometimes find their way onto the floor finish. This can take place through ductwork and return air systems that push contaminants around and even shed off the adjoining carpet and other areas; particularly when the final seal coat is curing. Our team did wash out in the self-draining dog potty area due to limited areas available and accessibility to water in your backyard, once they received your approval to do so. Four different members of our team including me did return several times and spent considerable time cleaning and addressing your concerns lady As I look back on this job Erica, there are lessons to be learned and some mistakes made but as the owner of this company I strongly believe with the highest conviction I did everything I could to address your concerns relating to the installation which is why I was confused to see this review now after almost a year later. I respected your request last year for me to no longer contact you and agreed to a $200 deduction from the final invoice as a show of respect for your time, trouble, and inconvenience and viewed this as a closed issue as indicated in your final correspondence. I assure you my goal as the owner is to achieve 100% satisfaction with all my customers but realize this may not always be possible despite my best efforts. I am available to meet with you at your convenience regarding your review and comments lady. Respectively, Mark"
