Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience with Counter-Revolution. I reached out to them in September of 2021 to do a countertop install for me. They had the best price, so I hired them for an install date in the first week of November 2021 (as stated in the contract Chris, the owner, provided me). I paid them the deposit, which was half of the total project cost. Chris contacted me right before the installation was supposed to happen in November to let me know the granite had not yet been delivered, so they had to push back my installation. I was bummed because Chris had made it sound like they had the granite in stock themselves and did not make me aware of any potential delays, but I was understanding because I knew the delays were out of his hands. However, after 6-7 more delays due to his staff being out sick, weather, and short staffing, I started to get frustrated because he was doing other installs in between, making me feel like he was not prioritizing my project at all, despite our contract and me already having paid for half of it. Finally, his team came to do the installation in February of the following year. They did not wear masks (or even bring any) despite Chris having been short-staffed multiple times due to his employees being out sick. I have an immunocompromised family member, so I had Chris bring his employee mask to wear, which he did. I did have to remind them to actually wear the masks, though. The installation looked fine once it was done, but the entirety of the bartop came completely unattached and fell off just hours after the installation was completed. This was hundreds of pounds of granite that came crashing down but was luckily caught by the barstools underneath it. If someone had been sitting there, bones would have been broken and we would have had to call for help to get the person out from under the stone. I specified this because Chris did not seem to realize how big of an issue this was. He did have his team come out the next day (at my request) to fix it, and I have not had any issues since. I asked Chris to reimburse me for the damaged items (wall, stools, pots), and he said he would send $150 and that it was more than fair, despite the fact that it was less than the value of the damaged items. I agreed because I was tired of hassling him for months to just get the job done, and I was ready to be done with it all. Unfortunately, it is now April of 2022, (7 months after this whole thing started), and Chris has still not sent me a check for the reimbursement, despite multiple reminders. He could have sent his team the check the day after the damage, or paid me via Venmo or PayPal, but did not do any of those things. He asked me to send him a reminder text just last week, which I did, but he still did not send the check. Today I asked him to just purchase replacement stools (the most expensive items that were damaged) since he had not been able to coordinate getting a check sent, and he told me I was extorting him. Overall, this experience has been frustrating, dangerous, and I feel Chris took advantage of me being nice and understanding as much as he could, and now that I am pushing back, he has told me I am extorting him and committing a felony, which is disappointing considering I feel like I have been more than patient with this company as a whole. I did give them one star for customer service because the team that did the installation was friendly and did comply when I asked them to wear their masks, with only one reminder needed.
