Landscape Curbing Installation

We had landscape border installed by Creative Curbz several years ago. It has held up even better than expected. The color has held and there is not a single crack of chip in the prior work. Based upon our previous work, we just had additional borders installed. They look as good as the previous. I would strongly recommend them. Keep this in mind. They get very busy during the summer, so you'll want to plan your project well in advance.

They came out to the house fall of 2019 to give us an estimate, we also picked out color and pattern at that time. The goal was to get it done before winter set in but with the rainy fall we had it didnt work out. Well be there in the spring which was of course in the midst of quarantine. As soon as we are up and running which came and went. We are really busy and dont get to the south side much. Well get there when we have another job in the area; which didnt happen all summer. Called in late August and was told Id receive a call in September. It is now October, no call, no curbing. I expected more since we are repeat customers. Customer service has been terrible- lots of promises and no product. Find another company.
Response from Creative Curbz, LLC
"This project was completed by the other company I referred customers to because Creative Curbz was booked out too far and we don't do a lot of work in that area anymore as it's on the outskirts of our service area. Other contractors took longer than hoped for reasons listed below. Sorry, you guys we're unhappy as we try extremely hard but between being out of our general service area, snow in October and record rains, and then COVID where it was an absolute challenge dealing with workers and other issues we gave your name to another qualified contractor who I've known for years. We would love to do every job but it's just not realistic. All in all HAPPY this customer was more than satisfied with the project that was completed for them."

The contractor came in right on time and finished their work on time within the same day. Understood the color of the new curb is still changing before the final curing is done. The curb is great to look at. The curb will certainly keep the stone mulching from drifting out to the grassy areas and keep the mower blades from contacting the stones.

Landscape Curbing Installation
We contracted with this firm in May, 2014 to install continuous concrete curbs around our home. We selected them on a recommendation of friends who had had good luck with their installation. However, when our curbing work was done in July, we found that the installers had overdone the black tinting agent that provides texture to the finished product. Rather than a light wash of black tint, our installation looked like it had the black color painted on. The final product looked as though these curbs had been in a fire, with the black opaque in many areas and looking like soot. We tested a hidden part of the curb to see if we could remove some of the black with a wire brush and found we could not without completely damaging the texture. We called the owner to see if the black could be removed, perhaps chemically. His response was vague, saying, 'll see what we can do.' However, he added that he had done hundreds of thousands of feet of curbing and no one had ever complained, as though this was our fault for not liking the finished product. After several more calls over the next few weeks, we suggested if he couldn't fix this to our satisfaction, he should reduce or waive our bill, which he rejected. By late August, we decided to pay his bill in full just to be through with him. We contacted another firm, paid them $600 to remove the Creative Curbz work and then contracted with them to install new continuous curbing (we're very pleased with the new firm's work). They agreed with us that the black tint of the original work was overdone. In short, Creative Curbz was the worst experience we've had with any contractor.

"I could go on for hours about this review but won't. My company has installed 1000's of projects throughout WI, and hundreds of thousands of feet of concrete edging. With very few dissatisfied customers, but you do get some. This project was completed in a timely manner at the customer?s residence. What some people fail to realize when dealing with any concrete product is that there is no "exact" size to it as it's not manufactured in a controlled environment such as a factory. No two jobs are ever going to look exactly identical, it's a custom installation. The landscaper that I know that had worked on the project after I left thought it looked good but obviously everyone has their opinion. With this project the customer initially called me a week or so after completion talking about the excess release powder. Concrete takes at least 30-45 days to fully cure. I told them this but did look at the job a couple weeks after installation. At that time I told them that I wanted to wait until it fully cured as I knew it would look different at that time. They then called me several times about it, and I told them I'd see what I could do. After calling and consulting with several industry professionals I came up with several possible solutions. All of which would have to wait until full curing took place. Keep in mind this was just a "topical" powder, and not mixed in or throughout the concrete. So it was entirely possible to remove some of the so called excess via brushing or pressure washing. Either way I was willing to try and do anything possible to try and satisfy the customer as I never had a complaint for this particular issue. I don't recall them ever asking for a bill reduction but it's very possible. Either way they paid the bill in full telling me they'd live with it. At this time I felt that they we're satisfied with the project. It wasn't until 5 months later that I realized they weren't after reading this review. For this I'm truly sorry as in my opinion the form work on this project was first class. It's too bad that the shading that is supposed to give our product a unique look wasn't what they had expected. I feel that the problem could have been remedied or honestly a bit of time as the topical release agents tend to dissipate somewhat in time."
