Write a ReviewRyan McKinney with Cross Construction was absolutely incredible ! We remodeled our back porch, siding, guttering, garage door and was amazed at how quick the job was completed and how great everything turned out! All the workers were very professional from the time they showed up until the job was completed! I would definitely recommend them for anyone needing construction done and we are looking forward to our next home project with them! Before and After pics of our back porch
Cross Co. Was good to work with, but sub-conteactors they hired need some improvement on the way they do their work
Thank you for review and feedback. The crew was able to complete driveway replacement day 1 and cleanup day 2 after removing forms, we are thankful for the opportunity. Before and after Pics have been uploaded.
Great work! Had a huge tree fall on the house. Dan organized roof repair and put new shingles on the entire roof along with new gutters and roof vents. Inside, installed and painted new sheet rock on the ceiling. Cleaned up all over at the end. Great job! Thanks so much!!
Very honest people to work with and very professionals in what they do.
My experience with Daniel, a subcontractor, was highly negative and fraught with multiple issues. Daniel initially responded promptly when approached about a home addition project in 2022 but later encountered significant problems during the actual project in 2023 and beyond: â ¢ The project was delayed due to issues with estimates, with significant additional costs demanded for items not included in the initial quote. â ¢ Daniel repeatedly asked for final payments before completing the project, leading to further delays and unaddressed concerns. â ¢ Miscommunications and unfulfilled promises persisted, such as incomplete tasks after payment and unnecessary expenses for dirt removal. â ¢ Serious construction mistakes were made, including improper installation of structural elements and failure to meet safety standards, resulting in inspection failures. â ¢ Additional damages occurred to the property, including broken items and unattended repairs. Ultimately, my experience is characterized by significant financial strain, emotional distress, and ongoing dissatisfaction with the quality of work and professionalism displayed by Daniel. I strongly advise against working with Daniel based on their troubling encounter. Our home currently as of 4/30/2024 had about 6inches of standing water. It will cost us 2k to fix the actual problem. I left a very very thorough review on facebook. This platform only allows 3900 characters. As future customers just don't do this to yourself. Also, if you want to hear anything that is the truth you won't get it from Daniel. Yes, he was advised the review was coming and he tried to guilt trip my fiancé saying, "The only people your reviews will affect are the people who work for me and my family." As it should because we do not want anyone else to go through what we did and what others did who also reviewed him. If anyone wants to see the correspondence I have text messages documenting what really happened here. The receipts don't lie. Daniel always takes the time to respond to reviews, but still has not completed work that he was paid for. And since he has chosen to respond and say he FEELS ATTACKED and wants to be a victim I will elaborate further so you can see the downfall of my project was none other than him. He never stated in his lack of response any of the presented information was false. Yes, he only has so many characters to respond. Almost 4,000, but he would like to respond where he can spew lies to customers and not have anyone to elaborate on them. Daniel has poor business practices and poor project management skills. All we wanted in the end was to have someone who was paid to do their job do their job. And no you weren't CHOOSING to no longer deal with this project. You were fired! You asked over and over if we were going to choose you to do the drywall and flooring, but we decided against that. We also decided against paying you more money to blatantly screw us over. Daniel failed to add the cost of the kitchen to our bid and later on wanted to tell us it was because he did not know what we wanted. The things that were clear in the drawing were not even quoted at all. I have text messages of him telling us plumbing cost covered the kitchen, but later he told us the costs for our kitchen plumbing was not covered. Then we referred back to the texts he suddenly remembered. Therefore, I am choosing to let others know so they will not experience what I did. I have spent $167,000+ with Daniel on this addition project and we were quoted $187k. We are going to be approximately 40k-50k over budget to get these things completed because Daniel did not quote things like HVAC. The drawings clearly state the contractor needs to quote HVAC. Which he did quote HVAC for the basement when it was added back into the equation. But I guess the rest of the house did not need cooling or heating. Daniel also decided to bulldoze several existing items which he did not advise their location would interfere. They were specifically placed in the far back portion of the property out of the way. But somehow instead of saying hey this bbq grill needs to be moved, he just completely buried it. Along with my expensive bicycle and many other items. The downfall of this project is very clear it was Daniel and him choosing to do things he wanted to do and not following our plan. He CHOSE to put a wooden beam/post for my structural foundation. He overlooked the plumbing in the basement plan and CHOSE not to dig my foundation deep enough. Leaving me with a basement height of 6' 10" when he was paid for 8'. Then told me it would be 7' 6". Then trying to tell me he poured 8'. You were aware of what was in the drawing or you should have been. He is CHOOSING not to reimburse me for this as well and refusing to take ACCOUNTABILITY as you can see in all of his responses to any review where he messed up or did not communicate. So the downfall is DANIEL and his CHOICES.
I honestly donâ t know where to start. Do I start with the IMPROVISING ON THE ARCHITECTS/ENGINEERS PLANS, poor project management, lack of communication/flat out ignoring us, the lies, under quoting/not adding vital pieces of the project to the bid, no work being done for weeks, the excuses, lack of accountability. I only have so many characters so Iâ ll just hit the high points. And also if you respond to this. WHEN ARE YOU GRADING MY YARD AND WHERE IS MY DOOR HANDLE!?! WHEN ARE YOU FIXING OUR PAVERS/LIGHTS!? And all the other stuff youâ ve been paid for. Youâ ve still been unresponsive after screwing us over and after getting over 150k from us. If you donâ t read any further as a potential customer. JUST DONâ T DO THIS TO YOURSELF!! If you want to see more horror stories about him which we didnâ t initially see go to home advisor. I included the link as well. https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.CrossConstruction.52331421.html 1. Our plans had an unfinished basement 8â tall ceilings with plumbing so it would be finish-able later. We decided to finish the basement after they put the footing in. Daniel said it was not a big deal but it would cut into our ceiling height because they had to tie the pluming in because we didnâ t have plans for plumbing in our original plan (BLAMING US!!). We led him to the drawings which displayed unfinished/plumbing. My fiancé said several times she felt like they didnâ t dig deep enough. But us not being in the profession we thought maybe they would build up with the framing so the basement would be 8â . Ultimately we ended up with a basement that was 6â 10â . We didnâ t know until our framing of the house was all the way up. Daniel told us this was due to us requesting plumbing be installed later. This was ALWAYS in the plan. Fact of the matter is, he didnâ t dig deep enough and Iâ m stuck with a basement thatâ s 6â 10â and I PAID FOR 8â . The kicker is after he lied about the basement height he tried to CHARGE US for a step up from our kitchen to get what we already paid for saying, â It will look nice.â And you did try to charge us so donâ t try to say you didnâ t, Daniel. I will be seeking compensation. He offered to take money off of other portions of the project to make up for it but I do not trust him to do anything else in my home. He lies constantly!! 2. Daniel decided to put in a wooden LVL beam because he had â Extra materialâ from another project instead of the steel beam required in the project which was recommended by the structural engineer. Daniel said he didnâ t think it was a â big dealâ and tried to convince us it is the same. According to the structural engineer, it was a big deal and due to the weight it was bearing the steel beam was required. But the kicker is guess when we found out he did this? WHEN WE FAILED THE CITY INSPECTION. Both inspectors were appalled he did that. So then we are waiting for Daniel to be available to work on our project which is now on the back burner for him because heâ s not getting anymore checks from us. This man took a month to get this installed which completely stalled our project. 3. He failed to include major parts of our project in his bid. Like HVAC and our kitchen. Thatâ s a major cost. But his bid looked nice. He charged us for demo and said his quote for $30k drywall included the remaining demo and we would have to pay to get this done because they were in the kitchen that he didnâ t include in the quote. 4. During dirt removal he destroyed several items instead of having us move them or he move them. I guess they thought they were in a demolition derby when he smashed by BBQ grill and bike which I thought would be safe in the back of the yard. He also charges for labor for them to clean up after themselves. I had to pay other people to have their trash AND project materials removed.
This review was given about a week ago. I've thought long and hard about how to respond to this review. I'm almost 40 now and this would be my first experience feeling attacked through any type of internet platform. I was aware a review was coming because it was stated weeks before I finished out what was asked. Which was to get it through all necessary inspections. I could spend my time defending myself but really I've spent a lot of energy on this project already and I don't plan on wasting energy going forward. As future customer if you would like a personal explanation of project downfalls I will do so. Only allowed so many characters to r
We hired Cross Construction to build a small addition onto our home. Daniel was quick to respond to the request and sent bids quickly. Their pricing was great and the work was completed quickly. The quality of the work was excellent and we would hire them again. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a construction related job to be completed.
Where do I even begin. Cross construction began our basement finish 10/24/2022. Things started off well for the first few weeks with good progress. We were told it would be 10-12 weeks to complete our basement finish. However after a few good weeks of progress we went several weeks with nobody showing up and nothing being done. Most of the time we were having to reach out to find out what was going on. Progress slowed down considerably and then January 2023 came and went with us still nowhere near completion. Finally things began to move along but then we ran into issues with the painters. They did a terrible job sanding the walls and as you can see there are lines on the walls in some of the photos. Also, the paint job on our custom cabinets looks horrible. They messed it up when painting and never got it fixed right. They also apparently didnâ t mark where the doors went. So when they put them back they did not line up. What you can see in the photos is how things were left. April 7th, 2023 was the last time Dan came to assess things. We had paint issues still unresolved, a ceiling vent that was never opened up and missing siding from where they took out the basement window. Dan was supposed to return later that day to work on things and weâ ve never seen or heard from him since! He just never came back and basically abandoned the job. It has now been over 1 year since the start of our basement finish and the pictures are how things still are. I would think twice before utilizing this company. Especially if you need any paint work. The painters he utilized were definitely not professional painters. Cross Construction was very unprofessional! Would not recommend.
Quality work done very timely
