Addition to Existing Structure Building Service
Don't do it! He is a con artist who will take your money and run. He will blame sub contractors for all of the issues with his building problems instead of honoring his word! He started an addition for us 3 years ago and took 2/3 of the completion amount of money which was not agreed upon. Stated he'd "work with us". The work is still not done. He said he'd come back and make things right. He was told I would not pay him one more dime until he fixed the poor workmanship he started. He wants to say that we breached his contract because we quit paying him. We stated we would not throw good money after bad (which is what we did by paying an attorney almost $10,000)! We dropped the case because we can finish the house for what attorney fees are going to cost. The siding and fascia are falling off the house, the drywall is a joke at best, the cement work is crumbling and breaking and 3 exterior doors leak water and snow into the house! I can provide pictures of this workmanship! He cannot hold onto quality sub contractors because of his poor business practices. He knows how much it costs to be sued in court so he continues to get away with his lies and lack of professionalism. Check his rating with the Better Business Bureau who basically said they will no longer support his business and verify his license with the State of Michigan and see that he has had to pay fines. I cannot recommend enough that you find a reputable builder and Custom Upgrades LLC and Roger K. is not it! If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Basement - Remodel
I hired Custom Upgrades to knock out a wall in the kitchen area to enclose a fridge and build some shelves. What should have taken two weeks took TWELVE. YES TWELVE!! It took months to schedule then someone unannounced just showed up one day and it went down hill from there. I should have known when Roger, the owner showed up late for the initial quote. From not pulling a construction permit, to not showing up repeatedly to complete the work, and having to do much of the work over. This was a complete nightmare. I can't count the calls, texts and email that I made and the number of times we waited for someone to come and they did not. They continued to replace job site managers as each one came up short. To sum it up after all that, when I asked if they were going to offer a discount I was told no but if I did another job with them then they would consider it on the next project. Remember two weeks turned into twelve weeks.

"Mike has every right to be upset. He had a job that was should have taken 2 weeks that took way too long. It had to be redone because one of the people just did a terrible job. This person has been fired from my company and the job was redone at no expense to him. He did want a credit and we did not give him a credit because we did do what the contract said in the end. I apologize it took longer than what it should have and we have taken measures to correct it internally."

Basement - Remodel
I fired them. the work lacked attention to detail. also poor communication about timing of work would be done. the only sub contractor that did a good job was the drywaller. the quote was professional but their treatment of the project was totally unprofessional. it wasn't important to them and a simple basement finishing (4-8 week project) has taken over 6 months. I am not contacting others to finish the job. In one phone conversation the owner referred to be as "darling". I think being a single female did not put it on their priority list. do not hire these people unless you have a strong man in the house

"The clients job took longer than it should have for multiple reasons. The plumber put the plumbing for the vanity in the wrong spot which slowed the process down. The homeowner herself ordered cabinets different than the approved kitchen design which completely slowed down the whole kitchen process because they had to come out and re-measure and re-template the granite countertops. We could not do anything until the granite countertops were installed. We could not hook up the sink, do the backsplash or finish the kitchen at all. Had she ordered the cabinets based on the original approved design this comment would not be mentioned today."

Garage Building Service
Don't hire this Co. It has been a nightmare from the beginning & the job is still is not done that was suppose to start soon after Nov. 2017. They finally broke ground Feb 1, 2017. I could go on & on with all the problems but don't have the energy anymore. It has been exhausting on all my dealings with this poorly run Co.

"This job was completed in a timely manner. The homeowner has proof that all inspections have passed and the certificate of occupancy has been emailed to her upon completion. She is refusing to pay her final invoice and I am having to take her to court to get my final payment. She should have no complaints on her job as she uses her garage everyday and she's just trying to get out from paying. we installed Windows in her house also which were done great which she doesn't mention."

Sunroom or Patio Enclosure Building Service
We had a screened-in three season porch that we wanted to convert to a four season porch. We contacted Roger at Custom Upgrades for a quote to replace the screen with glass, insulate above and below the porch, add electrical outlets, paint the interior of the room, install carpeting and add a heat source. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. The workers were competent, prompt and very friendly. We already have another project to do and we will not hesitate to contract with Custom Upgrades to do the work.

Custom Upgrades and it's owner have been a pleasure to work with. The team has done several renovations for us on time and in budget. They are currently adding a wrap around covered porch and will be doing a large addition in the spring. The whole team has been great to work with!

They treated my home like it was their own. I was so impressed with the interior work, I hired them to do my roof. The work was done quickly and professionally. We had one minor "hiccup" and Roger took care of it immediately and made it right. I would definitely recommend them.

Major Renovation - Multiple Rooms
Roger is good to work with and is easy going without hard sell. He has hired a good crew but most important is Mark - his manager who has great knowledge and experience in all things related to building, his supervision and his work is very detailed, no short cuts and above all communicating with me for all things so when I visited for reviewing the work, I already know what has been completed and what are the next steps. This one project cost was very reasonable as compared to others.
