Project: New Windows - 6 +
Salesman was very poor, promises 1 thing and the company provides another and the sales people did not follow through and make sure I got what I was told. The job was supposed to take 2 weeks and it has been 6 months and the job is still not done. Job has also failed inspection twice. I will never use this company again.

Review by Kris F. in Anoka, MN
The first salesman they sent out came back with a bid over $1000 higher than anyone else. He was going to check with his boss and see if there were any discounts he could apply. Instead the office sent out an even newer salesman who brought only a 10 foot tape measure, I had to walk around in the snowbanks and measure for him. He gave me a $500 lower bid than the first salesman so the original salesman reluctantly gave us the lower price. The original salesman came out to have the contract signed. I made the down payment and was told the rest would not be charged until full inspection. The day the installers left they charged my credit card with NO inspection. There were hinges missing, there were no screens I had purchased and a down spout was missing. They apologized for charging my card and promised me screens and the hinges I paid for. The installer came out a second time and installed the missing hinges. But the screens and remaining down spouts were still missing. The installer came out a third time, installed ONE of the screens and gave me a ridiculously short downspout. It was like pulling teeth to get what we paid for and impossible to get what they promised. Sadly, they are one of the most sexist companies I have ever worked with... I am a woman, I am the sole homeowner, I made the down payment and they consistently communicated with my boyfriend because he was the man of the house. I could not believe the way they treated me because I was a woman. They would not even acknowledge I was the customer.

Project: New Windows
TL;DR: After dealing with a 6 month window install through Custom Remodelers, I would not recommend Custom Remodelers to anyone due to their dismal (non-existent) communication and shoddy workmanship of their contractors. We went through Custom Remodelers for new windows on our home. While we are pleased with the quality of the windows themselves (the only reason they are getting 2 stars), the install and customer service have been nothing but a nightmare. The install began in January of 2019 and as I write this our windows have STILL not passed inspection through the city (they have failed 3 times now). Weston was a decent sales guy, but has been dismal with communication - along with the rest of their home office. We have been trying to get him out to see the finished product since on the exterior it truly looks like crap (clear caulk everywhere that I am fairly certain I could do a better job with) and see if the situation can be remedied, but he has been a no-show twice, which is extremely frustrating when we have to reschedule our workday to be home. Their contractors were also frustrating to work with. Now, starting a window replacement job in January in Minnesota we were flexible and understanding when some days work just could not be done due to weather. But once the job was finally almost done, with less than a full days work left (windows all installed, just the exterior casing and caulking needed to be done) the contractor we were working with says he is not going to come back tomorrow (on a day that was forecasted to be 40 degrees in February) and instead go get started on another job, and he will be back --sometime next week--; He comes back and *shocker* the February weather is less than ideal to be outside bending metal. Again, I get it, but the contractor then informs me that since he was not able to get it done before he went on a 3 week vacation, someone else was going to have to come out and complete the job. As mentioned above, the next contractor, who did the exterior, did a really poor job. It looks so bad. They also left shards of metal around our yard and nails all over our home from removing the windows - grateful a nail or piece of metal did not end up in a foot or paw. In addition to the shoddy craftsmanship complaints of the contractors work, there was also really poor communication with them. They would show up whenever was convenient for them, not us, the customer who is paying upwards of $10k for new windows. However, I will say they were all nice guys whose overall knowledge saved us from ice dams this winter. IN CONCLUSION: We are pretty annoyed we chose them for such an investment on our home and hope that nothing goes wrong with the windows because I truly do not want to interact with this company again.

There was a bit of a delay in getting our estimate after the first site visit, and then a delay in getting the project started, but it worked out in the end. CRI was one of 7 companies we had bid our siding, soffit, and gutter job and despite not being the lowest price, we felt they were a great value, offered a top quality product and warranty, and the financing option was the icing on the cake. The quality of the siding and gutters is top notch. The installers were experts at adjusting to fit some of the odd quirks of our house as well as delays in receipt of the correct product. They worked some of the coldest days of December to try to get back on schedule after the start was delayed. A number of missteps on the delivery of correct product cost some time, but was quickly corrected. Still waiting on final quality inspection by CRI, but overall, an awesome result and a job well done.

We confidently would give high ratings for sales, creative planning for color and stone schemes, competitive pricing, communication, promptness, diligence, skilled workmanship, courteousness, and timely job completion. Bob, Kenny and their crew of skilled siders excelled. Our home stands out in our neighborhood. This was the perfect choice.

There is one problem with the installation. I?ve called and talked to customer service people 9 times since the installation, and I?m really unhappy that they won?t fix it. There is a piece attached to the facia when a roof is installed. It had to be taken off and replaced when the facia was clad by CRI. The installers mangled one of these drip pieces, then put it back up. Instead oof repairing it, they kept saying that it was a roof piece-which is true. (it hasn?t been roofed in 6 years) I would have hired them to remodel my bathroom too, but I if they won?t do the small things, I worry about the big stuff.
