This is the first time I've ever needed to hire a plumber so I'm not sure if I can compare prices fairly, but what I paid seemed high ($500). This was to replace shower fixtures and install shut off valves for the tub's water supply. It was approximately 4 hours of work. However, my service request was answered quickly and the technicians were polite and knowledgeable. They also allowed me to buy the replacement parts at Lowes to help save some money. Overall, a very stress free experience.
