We called D.A. King just a few weeks ago after our house was hit with some serious ice-dam related damage. The ceiling collapsed in our main foyer, and the walls and ceilings in our living room, dining room, and stairway were heavily damaged. And while the insurance appraisal process went surprisingly well, we'd heard horror stories about the dealing with the repair process. Even our insurance company told us to brace for weeks of dust and total disruption of our lives. My wife and I have two kids and we both work full time. So naturally, we were both overwhelmed by the thought of trying to get our house and lives back to normal. But we were particularly concerned about finding a contractor we could trust. We've had some bad experiences in the past, so this time we were sure to do lots of research. But even that wasn't getting us anywhere. We spent the next day and a half making call after call, and could barely get out the words "ice dam" before someone would rudely interrupt us or just say "yeah, we'll do it. But we're booked for months". Meanwhile, the damage just kept getting worse and worse. The next day, my wife told me that she may have found a guy who could be great. He had perfect reviews, he was in the town next to us, and he was polite and understanding when she called him. When I called him later that day, he seemed genuinely eager to help. And I could tell he was not in it just for the work or the money. He really just wanted to help my family get our lives back to normal as soon as possible. So of course, I was highly skeptical. That was until he visited our house the next day and walked us through everything he planned on doing, telling us how we could get the most for our money, and where we could invest a little extra to make a big difference. He also ensured us that not only could he do the job quickly and with little disruption, but that he would deal directly with the insurance company if he discovered something they missed, or if they low-balled us on the quote. Well, to say there the job would be done quickly and with little disruption was a major understatement. We met on Thursday, and they started work the following Monday. Every day, Dan and his crew would show up the minute we'd leave for work. And every day, they would be long gone and cleaned-up before we'd get home. The whole thing took just three days. It was crazy. We would get home every night and it would be like they were never here until you noticed all the progress being made. There was never a spec of dust on the ground, ever. (And this is with tons of ceiling and drywall being replaced.) In just three days, they repaired and re-painted the ceiling in two rooms, replaced our front door, painted two rooms (with beautiful new cut lines), painted and patched our stairwell, and sanded and re-finished our wide pine floors. Dan and his crew were so great that before they left we asked them if they might be able to replace our sl
