The 3 weeks that Dan Langston was working on my house were extremely stressful. Long story short, if you are looking to have someone do a bigger job hire a professional because Dan was extremely unorganized and unprofessional while installing drywall in my basement. Long version: 1. Charged us more for materials than what was quoted because the prices went up drastically over the last week -guy... I can also go to a home appliance store and see how many materials are. This was the very first day of the project and I wanted to keep a good working relationship so I just went along with this story. 2. Suggested his helper could install a few lights and outlets in our basement while they were installing the drywall. Included the helper hourly wage on the quote, but later tried to say the electrical hourly was extra and not part of the quote. Said I had to pay the helper directly $700 extra for the electrical (the helper and I had never spoken or agreed on anything prior to Dan bringing him over to my house) how could I have previously agreed to pay this man extra if I had never spoken to him or had any kind of written agreement with him? 3. We let Dan know at the walkthrough we wanted frame & drywall for the entire 2 rooms of the basement & ceiling, plus a door built under our basement stairs. This is what I assumed the quote included (Guess I should have re-clarified). When Dan arrived to start the work, he was adamant that his quote did not include frame/drywall for two of the basement walls & that would be extra (why on earth would I hire you to finish only 3/4 of a basement?!). When he finished the job we got 3/4 of the walls framed, drywalled & textured, ceiling almost completed (however he left a large chunk of ceiling exposed and un-drywalled on the area above my washing machine) & no door was built under the stairs at all. 4. Randomly fired his helper 2 days into the job. The helper showed up at my house at 8am asking to finish the job & that Dan said we would pay him directly (again, I never spoke with anyone about paying this man directly, nor did I have a written contract with him to do so). This man was hired by Dan and Dan fired him. Dan should have paid the helper when he fired him. My fiance gave the helper his phone number to calm him down and eventually got him to leave our property. The helper started calling my fiance (20 times) & leaving voicemails saying he was going to put a lien on our home if Dan did not pay him. (I had no contract or verbal agreement with this man). Multiple times after this incident, me and my fiance called & texted Dan letting him know we were uncomfortable with his helper coming to our home and contacting us. Dan was out of town and said he would talk to the helper, although I am not sure if he ever did. After the texts and calls did not stop I finally had to call the police to file a complaint against this man as it did not seem like Dan was going to pay the helper what he was owed & I was fearful this man would come to my home again looking for payment. 5. Dan did not clean up after himself. I realize I would need to clean up after a construction job & I was prepared to do so, however, he did not put down any protective material on my brand new carpet and he chipped paint off of my ceiling while carrying material downstairs. He also left my brand new washer/dryer filthy, looks like he used it as a workbench. In the end, I paid Dan what was agreed on in our quote plus some extra for material cost overages just so he would leave & we could be done with him. However in my opinion he did not complete the job- the door was not built and there is a big unfinished hole in my ceiling that I will need to have someone else come and drywall. Dan was not communicative. I hired Dan based on a few good reviews through this site...
Response from Dan Langston
"Ok Karen I offered to frame and finish the 2 walls you say I did not finish and you did not want to spend the money. the hole you are talking about can't be fixed until you finish the framing. I did not leave a hole you just can't comprehend and I paid to have your electrical finished because I only do drywall to help you then you refuse to pay me 400 dollars. thanks for ripping me off 400 dollars then you badmouth me. I don't think so. Also, I am not responsible for other people's actions Karen."

Dan is very professional and great to work with. We hired to replace part of our basement ceiling. When Dan started the process he felt that replacement of the whole ceiling wasnâ t necessary. Just a small 4â x4â patch of drywall needed replacing. Saved us hundreds of dollars. So we asked him to re-skim the whole ceiling! It looks like new!
