Permit Service
David is completely lost. Do not trust a word he says. Worst communication ever in anyone I have worked with. Paid for permits 12/28/21 Today 2/1/22 they have just been applied for.

One year ago, I hired Florida Specialty Contracting to replace a rotten wooden deck with a Trek Composite deck. David was initially very nice and provided a very reasonable cost for the deck (about $15,000). He and his workers arrived very early in the morning and began working without ever telling me they had arrived. The reason this is important was that I would be sitting in my pajamas drinking coffee only to look up and see workman outside on the deck. I ignored this problem, because they started early. After they finished the work, I noticed that the Trek boards were warping and bowing. When I called David, he came out to fix a few, but then said I needed to call Trex since this was a product issue. When I called the Trex company, I was asked what my warranty number was, and as it turned out David never registered my product, which he did after I called him to ask about my warranty number. I had to send pictures of the warping to Trex and they told me that this was an installation issue. Specifically, that David had not fastened the boards with two screws on each board end, but rather two screws holding two boards which is not part of the specifications the company gives to its Trex Installation Pros. Each board should have its own two screws on each end. David refuses to answer my emails or replace the boards, because he insists he met the specifications. I literally have multiple pictures to suggest he did not install them correctly and a letter from the Trex company indicating he did not install the boards correctly. This is an unprofessional company that does not stand by its own work.

Everything was done by phone, as we are in NY and had the work done on our property in Florida. Communication was great , they keep you informed, sent pictures of the work. Would definitely hire them again

Power washed finished product an my driveway. Made sure that I was satisfied. Worked quickly and cleanly. Cleaned up every day before leaving. Very pleasant workers and easy to communicate with.

David and his team were great to work with! We hired them to demo and reconstruct our composite deck after another contractor did a very poor job. David's team showed up on time and got the job done quickly, but what's most important is that the work is quality that is built to last. Thanks David!

David was hired to demo our 25 year old deck . He did such a great that we hired him for our porch . Although the weather was against us. He did a great job . One heavy rain cause a cascade of hic ups . David was right there al the way he hires good subs .execpt the guy that did the stamp on the floor he was a bit rude and bad mouthed David . I personal didn't care for him. David sent us a painter who did a great job painting a pop corn ceiling. David Mead is the contractor you need and we highly recommended him . Finally a honest man in the trades and no I am not family . Just a spit fire Red head .Thanks David

At first David was very cordial and we welcomed him and his crew into our home with open arms. But as time went on building our deck it became apparent that David and his crew have very little carpentry skills. No attention to detail and certainly no pride in his work. He used the wrong tools for the job causing damage on the deck and handrails. Then tried to sneak the broken material into the deck. We also wanted Trex lights to go with the Trex deck but David sold us some aftermarket lights with the promise that they cost half the price of Trex but of equal quality. Now, after two months about twenty percent of the rail lights are out. And all of the deck lights are not weatherproof and rusting out already. The riser lights are falling out because he used the wrong tool to cut the holes. There are not any consistently spaced deck boards. Ranging from zero gaps to over three-quarters of an inch. I have much more to list all with photos to share. And one of his employees had taken power tools from my garage. David will not even acknowledge this. But, his other employees told us that they think the same. We keep finding more damaged and broken materials on this deck that he refuses to repair now that he was paid in full. Also refuses to answer phone calls or text messages. There is so much sub-standard work on this deck that we now have to hire another contractor to come and make the repairs on the deck. This has been a bad experience for us and I highly recommend that no one hires this contractor.

"It is very disappointing to hear these comments. Chris was so happy when we finished his deck and told me he was bragging to all his neighbors and friends who saw it. I have at least 3 text messages from Chris telling me how great the deck is. I did return several times to correct some minor issues that Chris brought to my attention. Overall, I am extremely proud of this deck just like all the ones that I complete. In fact, it is featured on my website. Chris brought the light issue to my attention about a week ago and I assured him that the lights were covered under the manufacturer warranty and I would replace them. I tried to call, text and email Chris to schedule an appointment to come remove the lights and replace them. I did not hear any response until I read this review. The deck is still under warranty and I take my warranties seriously, as do the manufactures of the various components of the deck. At any time, Chris can let me know when he is available for me to come remove the lights and replace them per the manufactures warranty."

David Meade and his company, Florida Specialty Contracting, are highly professional and skilled. He constructed and built a beautiful large deck and long stairway on a very challenging site--a steep hillside overlooking a small lake. He managed the entire project through from permitting through the final inspection, The construction was of the highest quality, as were the materials. David and his crew chief, Vicente, insured the profect was completed to our total satisfaction. David is easy to work with, kept us informed of every stage, and finished in a short time. We could not be happier with our deck and stairs and highly recommend Florida Specialty Contracting.

I had a hard time locating someone that was willing to build the deck I was asking for. David came out and was more than helpful getting my idea to plans, permit, and eventually a finished product. I am very satisfied with what David and his crew built. There were a couple hiccups with materials that slowed us down a bit but I don t believe that had anything to do with David. In the long run I was very happy with the finished product. He is a true professional and the end product is something that not only adds value but seems extremely sturdy and excellent quality. David and his crew were extremely patient and addressed any quality concerns I had without any issues at all. I would recommend a project with Davis and his guys to absolutely anyone that needs this type of work.

They said they had a warranty, they put a hole in my roof and when the time came to cover the cost of fixing my roof they said no.

"We were hired to bring an existing porch up to code. When we saw the scope of the job, we saw that the roof was sagging and our work would cause some movement that might cause a leak. We informed the homeowner that the roof on the porch was old and needed to be replaced. She opted not to replace the roof at the time we did our work. When the roof started leaking, she asked us to cover the cost of the entire roof. I asked her to have the roofing company show us that it was indeed an error in our work that contributed to the leak and I would cover the cost of the repair, but not the entire roof. I did not hear back from her nor her roofing company."

Was on time and removed the old deck with ease. Made a showcase 8 Ft by 16 Ft deck with 2 ramps for wheel chair access and safety rails where needed. ALL waste material was removed with care. I am very happy with this piece of art work and will enjoy it for years to come.
