I hired the plumber to pressure test a gas line. He told me I had six code violations that had to be corrected to get it inspected. He gave me a quote. My brother told me that the plumber was incorrect and called the inspector who verified that these things were true only for new construction, and only one of the six items needed to be done. Within ten minutes I called the plumber to stop him, but he had already started on the most expensive thing which was unnecessary. He did the other required item and charged me the same price as the original quote.
