Deck Pros

Lots of excuses over the last 3 weeks as to why they have not started to do the job. Lack of communication. Keeps pushing off the start date and then does not show up. There was no permit applied for when he said there was.

My family are so pleased with our experience with Deck Pros. They gave us a fair quote and reasonable timeline. They arrived on time every day and were clean and respectful of the space. They worked so hard and got the job done above any expectations we had. We would highly recommend using them and will be using them again in the future. Thank you so much to the Deck Pro team for a great job done.

We were extremely pleased. Rob was the lead on the construction. He and his team showed up every day at about 0800 and worked continuously until completion. Rob has an excellent skill set. He pays attention to detail and takes pride in his work. There were some product delays and Beau kept us informed and was easy to get in touch during the project. They exceeded our expectations.

Fantastic work and award winning customer service in my opinion. Great contractor for decks. The back turned out beautifully, exactly what we wanted. Next year I will hire them back to do our other deck..

Beau Starr ( Deck Pros) is dishonest, incompetent, and shouldnt be allowed to continue his deceptive pretense of a business. We signed a contract with Beau Starr / DeckPros and gave them a deposit of over $18,000 on Feb 27, 2021. He then led us on for more than 4 months until he just abandoned our project on June 6, 2021. We first called DeckPros in Jan 2021, so we could reasonably plan to get our project completed by the end of Fall 2021. Initially, we were given a provisional start date of April 28. When we checked in late April, we were cheerfully assured that materials and crew would be ready within a few days and we give a May 4 start date. All seemed good. Since then we were lied to repeatedly with excuses and explanations and our start date was postponed 9 different times! We put our lives on hold patiently waiting for the next start date. Every few days we were told, at the last minute, that the crew wasnt ready to start, and wed be given more false explanations of problems with their prior projects. We had prepared our deck and our yard for DeckPros, so we simply waited and waited for Deck Pros to start. Then on June 6, a Sunday before the start date of Monday June 7, we got an email from Beau that he was just going to take us off their schedule! Like that! We were shocked and horrified. We will remain shocked and horrified about this forever. We were simply abandoned, after we signed a contract with them 4 1/2 months earlier, and planned our life around this project. We had to fight for 3 weeks to get our deposit back. We were lucky that we paid with a credit card, so the card company could help us. However, lying to us by promising and signing a contract to complete the deck project- which they never started, and keeping our money for over 4 months, arent the only issues! It is now summer and our 26 years old deck is rotting and it is a safety hazard. Anyone with intelligence knows that contractors are currently already booked well into fall or winter, and many are too busy to even come out for an estiemate. In April, we took down a under deck roof to be ready for Deck Pros it will take us a day to put it back up. We are retired seniors and Deck Pros took advantage of our patience. Beau Starr never got us the permits he promised. he never provided us an inventory of the materials he supposedly purchased. We have sent BBB pages of emails and broken promises. I cant imagine how we would ever gotten our deposit back if we had not had the help of our credit card company. Please be aware of this unethical business, and do not plan on a project because you could be abandoned.

Deck Pros repaired my failed retaining wall, did a new 1500 foot paver patio and Gazebo on the north side of my home. I recently was in the hospital for a few months and they worked with me from my hospital bed and made sure the work was done by the time I was released. They sent pictures with updates practically daily, even let me known if they ran into issues on the property. I wouldnâ t have hired them and had them at my home while I was away if I didnâ t feel comfortable or trusted them and I did. Beau did my estimates and even visited me a few times in the hospital during the project to say hi and update me, Mark handled my design drafts and visited me twice to make sure I under stood how to read the plans, Jamie sent me updates, Tim, Robert and Michael did all the construction (I never met them in person, but I did Skype with them on one or two occasions to walk me through the work at my house), they all were upbeat and positive to work with. Iâ m out of the hospital and have been back home about a month and love their work quality and follow through. Great company to have work for you if you in the area.

BEAU STARR, (DECK PRO) IS THE WORST REPAIR CONTRACTOR IN THE AREA!!! This project was to take 1 full week to complete (originally contracted in August 2020) with partial demolition and repair of a second-story deck. The project was just north of 12K, 6K upfront. It was finally canceled in Jan 2021 The project was pushed to the right at every scheduled start date, the reasons given were supplied ordering difficulties, wrong material ordered, COVID proximity, COVID diagnosis, broken work truck, traffic accident. Even working the refund process was riddled with DELAYS AND MORE EXCUSES. I contacted him 6 separate times to arrange for the refund to be processed. The biggest issue I had with Beau Starr, Deck Pros was his complete lack of execution, leadership, and communication. We would have a start date confirmed, yet he would not only NO SHOW, but HE WOULD NOT RESPOND to texts, FB messenger, FB wall posts, and or direct phone calls that I placed to find out why he was not starting. Routinely it would be a week to 10 days after the missed start date then he would finally reply and provide VERY FLIMSY EXCUSES as to why he did not make the start date. His TOTAL DISREGARD FOR TIMELY COMMUNICATIONS was the most frustrating thing in this entire process. We extended our patience time and time again with numerous, seemingly overwhelming excuses offered to us. We feel this generosity of patience was taken advantage of. Our experience was anything but professional and that was rather surprising because we chose them based on the reviews that we read not only from this site but other review sites as well. Beau Starr is exactly what you hear that gives repair contractors a bad name, he is the poster child for HORRENDOUS work ethics and has demonstrated a complete disregard for your time, money, and energy. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND BEAU STARR OR THIS COMPANY!!!

I recently moved here from Oakland, CA and let me tell you, contractors are different up here then down there. I found it shocking how lack luster and unprofessional the contractors in Kitsap can be in my experience and opinion. Most either failed to call me back, show up to give an estimate, provided me with a typed â professionalâ bid or smelled like alcohol or pot. Thatâ s until I had Deck Pros come out. Beau & Jamie showed up and I knew right away this company was different. They treated me with respect and listened to what I was thinking and were professional from start to finish. Before they gave any prices I knew I was hiring them to do my sunroom and deck. I didnâ t care about the price, I wanted them to be the company I put my trust and hard earned money into. I wasn't disappointed either, they lived up to the name and my expectations. Theyâ re extremely busy, especially with covid taking place but theyâ re worth any wait. They always wore masks around me and my kids, had a port-a potty with sanitizers and stuck to social distancing protocols. They are worth every penny.

The old deck was disgusting. We purchased this house about 2 years ago and always planned to redo the deck once we saved the money. Met with lots of contractors, ended up picking Deck Pros for the mere fact they're far more professional then any of the others. Their estimate was clear and concise, typed and had the different tasks and pricing broken up, it was easy to read and understand what each phase was going to cost. Beau gave us multiple designs and had no problem working with us to tweak the designs to exactly what we wanted. We were not easy customers but they made us feel like we were. My husband and I were planning to do the deck ourselves when we first moved in, we already started the permitting process before we hired Deck Pros. We were way over our heads trying to deal with Pierce County, our permit was tied up for months, especially once Covid-19 hit, things really slowed down. Beau helped us get the permit moving again and got it approved. I was starting to feel like the permit was never going to be approved. Deck Pros took it over and got it done for us. If anyone is thinking of doing the permitting process themselves, I would not recommend it unless you've done it before and familiar with the requirements and the planning department. It was an added stress we were not prepared for. The deck and pergola turned out exactly how we pictured. We went with IPE wood and had Deck Pros oil it for us. The inspections passed with ease and we're finally done and can enjoy our deck. We will hire Deck Pros again when we decide to do our front porch.

It took them 6 weeks due to slow workers, miscalculation of materials, and poor communication between owner and workers and to customer. It was finally done in December 2020. We extended our patience time and time again with the excuses offered to us. We feel this generosity of patience was take advantaged of. Our experience was anything but professional and was surprised because we chose them based on the reviews given here. I would not recommend this company.

Order placed in May 2020. No railing received at this time in October 2020. The sales rep is nonresponsive and my 2600 dollar downpayment is still not returned.

They replaced a dry rotted support beam, and post under a second story deck. Although very busy, they were concerned for the safety of our family, came on a Saturday and did the work. We were very satisfied with the repairs, and professional attitude. We will call this company again for all deck work in the future.

Very professional! Excellent communication prior to and during the job, The guys did a good clean up every day and hauled the debris from the old porch away at the end of the job. Did a great job translating our desires into a plan with drawings and parts list. Can't recommend highly enough.

We had Deck Pros replace both our front and back decks. From beginning to end they were easy to work with. They were very professional, knowledgeable and hardworking. Their craftsmanship is outstanding. Great experience overall. We are very happy with our new decks. Highly recommend them.

They came out a few months back to do a Free Deck Inspection and Ben made some recommendations to bring my 30 year old deck up to modern. He knew his building codes and walked through the entire inspection with me and explained every issue. He was well kept, nice and well mannered. I hired them to do the repairs and couldn't be happier. I feel safer on my deck than I have in the last 12 years and that feels good. There were a few delays on starting the job because of unexpected challenges they ran into on other jobs before mine but they were very clear from the start to make sure I had the right expectations and warned me these delays could happen and they were outside of their control. Once they got started the work went fast, took them 4 days, 3 days quicker than they originally thought. We certainly recommend Deck Pros to everyone with a deck.

They just finished doing a pretty big expansion and enlarged our back deck 30ft by 10ft. The permitting was the longest part, about 5 weeks but once the project got started the entire thing took 3 weeks. Beau and Jamie were great to work with and stayed on top of everything. The crews always knew what they were here to do and did it with no problems. Everything turned out as I pictured it in my head, which is fantastic.

True professionals. They came out within a day of calling for a estimate and then got me the estimate within a day and came out to do the work the next week. They finished the project in a week and two days and everything turned out beautifully. All in all from calling for a estimate to my finished deck it was 3 weeks total.

I've been in the trades for more than 20 years and had planned to replace my deck this summer. I tore down the old one and found a large amount of rot damage to the structure of my house. Once I discovered the rot I knew it was over my head and I need professionals. My friend referred Deck Pros. I called them, and within a day they were out to give me a estimate. I called 4 other deck companies and no showed up. I imagine they were to busy to care. Deck Pros was fairly priced and they could start that next week which was perfect. They did the entire rot repair and new deck in less than 2 weeks, giving my plenty of time to enjoy my deck for the rest of the summer. I continue to get compliments from all my friends who come over. They have outstanding craftsmanship.

Deck Pros refinished my 20 ft. x 16 ft. deck yesterday, they tore out the old railing and decking & put in new 5/4x6 (wider) cedar decking & a cedar railing & then stained everything with a behr solid body stain (see pictures) and it's incredible. They did it all in under a week. I was tight for time as I have family coming for a month and they worked over the labor day weekend to help me out and make sure it was done in time for my wife's family to come from Germany today. I highly, highly recommend them. On a side note: Since June I had been trying to get this deck done and out of the 10 or more contractors I called, only 4 bothered to show up and only 1 ever got back to me was my estimate, the other 3 disappeared and never responded even though they said they would send it. Dan came out from Deck Pros within 2 days of calling them for a estimate and right away he was different than the other contractors. Upbeat, happy and you could tell he loved his job and knew a lot about decks. I knew I was hiring them before they gave me the estimate, the price didn't matter. But they did end up coming in a little less than the one other estimate I got, it was a win win.
