I trusted Design Air to do annual servicing for both my heating and air conditioning systems. The truck that came was from "Gold Medal Service" (formerly Waterworks), not Design Air. Design Air had been hired based upon their good online reviews. I now see that those reviews were a few years old and the more recent reviews tell a different story. Each visit to my home was costly - and the work done was always diagnosed as an urgently needed repair. Last year I was told that I needed a new air conditioning system because my Freon/coolant was "gone" - when I did balked at replacing my system, the technician sold me on another solution, more coolant, a bill just under $1,000.00 and a warning that the coolant wouldn't last the summer. This year, the coolant was "fine" but I needed $1,600.00 for different urgently diagnosed repairs. I was told that I could pay it off in 12 monthly installments. I gave them my credit card. Yesterday I received a Gold Medal Service CREDIT CARD in the mail. They ran a credit check on me and issued a credit card. I called the issuer and cancelled the card and also found that the total amount had been billed to me. This habit of trying to increase the bill for each visit was standard. The technicians routinely pressured to perform unnecessary work at inflated prices. A neighbor of mine has a larger home and an older air conditioning system and her service call this year was $350.00. I called Design Air yesterday at 2:30 and asked to speak to someone in accounting. The person who answered the phone took a message. I am still waiting. This behavior of unnecessary work, inflated prices and no customer appreciation permeates this business practice. They took advantage of my trust.
