Water Removal Recovery Service
It was a little difficult working with the owner -- when you ask them to pay attention to details, he was basically considering us picky. A contractor he hired also ended up damaging a wall that they tried to cover up by saying something was wrong with the wall, but that wall wasn't even part of the original issue. They fixed their mistake but lying about it was just wrong. Another worker tried to touch up a different wall that wasn't part of the job, which was a nice thought, but ended up making it look worse since you can see the touch ups. Somehow he didn't think that the new paint would standout against the old paint.

It was bad enough to have to deal with a pipe leaking in your wall and having to tear a kitchen apart to repair, but to have to deal with the run around. Project being drug out for months, only to have poor quality of workmanship, then to have the pipes come apart a few months later and be told I'd be charged to fix it. I just repaired it myself!!! This was a nightmare!!! I would not recommend Ron's company to anyone!
Response from Peak Construction
"It was our Subcontractor plumber (which we don't use any longer) however, the sink pipe continued to break because she completely overloaded the sink over full for days. It was the insurance company delaying $$$ to continue which we helped here increase her claim. What an enormous increase in the new kitchen from the water issue she caused."

My elderly mother experienced a fire in her bathroom and adjoining bedroom. Insurance called in their preferred contractor and their estimate was incredibly high - more than insurance was willing to pay. After receiving a cash settlement, it was left to us to find a contactor and get the repairs done. After numerous bids, Ron with Design Build arrived and gave a very cost effective bid. We were even able to do some upgrades to the bathroom, i.e. beautiful walk in shower, new vanity, etc., all within budget. Work progressed as promised and despite some issues getting the needed materials due to supply chain, Ron had my mom back in her home by Christmas, which was her desire. I highly recommend Design Build for your home improvement / post fire repair work!

From the very beginning Ron and his staff were professional with very high expectations! Ron thoroughly uncovered all of the damage related to flooding of our upstairs from a broken pipe.. he was very persistent with the homeowners insurance to make sure that our claim was fully funded and that everything was repaired in a structurally sound fashion with high-quality materials‼️ By being extremely thorough he uncovered more problems related to the accident and made sure Insurance assisted us with funds to restore and improve our main living quarters‼️ Jestin, (his finishing carpenter), is very skilled and meticulous in his work. His attention to detail was impressive! We are extremely satisfied with the outcome from the work done by “Designbuild‼️ Thank you Ron, Jestin and DB employees for our beautiful new living space‼️

They were extremely professional and took pride in the work. I was very impressed with the 2 guys left here to do the work, they were thorough and polite. They covered the floor with cardboard and the last thing they did was cleanup and vacuumed. They are very efficient.

DO NOT HIRE! Unfortunately the project was not complete so I cannot give an honest reply to the quality of work. However, I provided a payment of $5000.00 and he completed only $1235.93 of the job. Once he is paid the down payment, owner is very difficult to contact and communicate with. He refuses to answer questions regarding work timeline and future completion of the job. He does not allow for choices and became irritable when we did not like the flooring choices he provided. We used a flooring vendor of his choice to look at available samples. We got back to him immediately and the flooring vendor was also aware of our choice. We called for an estimated He then had us go to a vendor to order the flooring. After the choice was made, there was a delay in the project. He then blamed the flooring company for the delay because the materials were not ordered when he did not provide that information to them. When asked if he ordered flooring for the project he stated yes. It was learned from the flooring company that he never ordered the materials after he told us to use that particular vendor, then blaming the vendor for the delay in the job when he never ordered the materials. He is belittling when speaking to me and my wife. He refused to send us a contract. When requesting the remaining of the unearned portion of the $5000.00 he refused to return it. We are in the process of recuperating the remainder of the deposit from this company. Another problem of note is when working on the repair a worker damaged a different wall and that also needs to be repaired. DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR because once he gets your money he is not reasonable when trying to get answers to questions regarding the project then he asks more money before he will continue the job. He is a smoother talker who likes to boast about how long he has been doing business. When asking questions about accountably and the cost of the project he stated that it is wasting his time. The last thing he stated to my wife was that ;this job is a small job it does not mean anything to me as I work with more jobs that is worth more money. Obviously because our job is a small job we were not given the full and complete care for doing our home repairs. Once again DO NOT HIRE.

DesignBuild offered very effective support at dealing with our insurance company USAA in eventually getting a dramatically more fair property claim settlement to repair the damage from a water leak to our hardwood floors, kitchen cabinets, and dining room carpeting. They were very knowledgeable and efficient in determining the extent of the water damage to the hardwood floors under and behind our refrigerator and into the sub-flooring and insulation. They also discovered that water damage had extended to neighboring kitchen cabinets, into the framing and wallboard in the walls between the kitchen and dining room, and had damaged the dining room carpeting and padding. They were very experienced in detailing the costs of their water damage mitigation estimate of over $ 5,000 that satisfied USAA and was fully paid. Designbuild also worked effectively with USAAs independent insurance adjuster to identify what was needed to fully restore our home. However, the insurance adjuster grossly underestimated their initial replacement costs of comparable cabinets (initially $ 8,000 - including R & R labor costs versus the real cabinet replacement costs that USAA finally agreed to of $ 26,000 and $ 3,200 of R & R labor costs) and their initial replacement value of the dining room carpeting and pad (initially $ 1,328 versus the real carpet and pad replacement costs that USAA finally agreed to of $ 1,789). Also with DesignBuilds help and experience, I was able to work with our previously contracted hardwood flooring contractor to increase USAAs grossly underestimated costs to replace the damaged kitchen hardwoods and to sand and refinish all connecting hardwood flooring from their initial costs of $ 3,354 versus the real costs to replace the damaged hardwoods and sand and refinish all hardwood flooring to a more realistic settlement amount of $ 6,582. The bottom line, Designbuilds knowledge and experience in dealing with insurance companies were very helpful in getting USAA to increase their initial 10/3/2019 property claim settlement of $ 29,180 to repair the hardwood flooring, replace all kitchen cabinets and the dining room carpeting to eventually on 1/16/2020 a much more realistic total settlement amount of $ 6,582 for flooring and $ 45,107 for restoration of kitchen and dining room damage - a total 77% increase of $ 22,509 ($ 51,689 - $ 29,180). Their work is excellent. They advised of other things they found that needed work also. They worked with us within our budget and were very transparent about what needed to be done. They repaired dry rot on our house and also painted the trim (2 different jobs). No complaints. They were very professional and worked quickly and efficiently.

Hired Ron for a small bathroom addition, and in the beginning everything was fine. Shortly after him starting, I began to notice that things were not getting done, and people were continuously not showing up, including Ron himself. After many arguments, the job was never completely finished in the end, and he would not respond to my calls or texts. He also charged me for removing existing products that I never had before the job started. He said he would remove those charges, but never did. I also had to go out myself (5 months pregnant) and purchase separately, the vinyl flooring, hardwood flooring, paint, vanity, vanity faucet, and shower hardware, because he either did not have time to do it himself or what he was trying to put in without my consent was the cheapest and ugliest product I had ever seen. I was also only reimbursed a fraction of what I paid for all the materials. The end result was crappy and did not reflect the 30+ years of experience he claims he has. They also left lots of construction debris in my yard and driveway, and never returned to remove the paper they laid down over my downstairs floors. We had to do that ourselves and the tape he used to tape the floors left glue residue all over my original 1924 hardwood floors. I have many pictures for proof and also text messages from Ron himself. I would NOT recommend using him.
Response from Peak Construction
"We are very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with our bathroom remodel in your home. As the owner of the company, I wanted to respond personally to your complaint because I always strive to keep our customers satisfied. I can personally guarantee to you and all of our customers that our work is done safely and functions perfectly. In fact, the client who hired Designbuild for this project told me that she was extremely impressed, and paid the final invoice in full upon the job's total completion - as per our standard payment policy. While you may not have been reimbursed for certain materials which you independently decided to change after our installation of the pre-approved items because of your preference of appearance, we can assure you with total confidence that our policies regarding material selection and installation were followed honestly. However, we respect our clients right to make preference-based changes and we are more than happy to accommodate them at an additional cost that can be negotiated outside of our original estimates, as we upheld with you. Regarding the quality and cleanliness of the project, we pride ourselves on our motto of "distinctive quality" which can be seen in the numerous project albums on our website. Our work speaks for itself. I do believe that if our work was unsatisfactory, the paying client would not have hired us for a second time to complete a larger project than the first one we previously completed in your home. We wish you all the best and hope to continue improving your home in the future."

Service was great and attention to the issue of the damaged flooring due to water was reassuring. Tanner looked at the whole area and located a few other problem areas that I had not expected, so there would be no problems with that area in the future I had those repaired while he was there. I would recommend them to anyone who needs small repair jobs done. R

It took a little longer to get the job done, mostly because of rain. My complete vision of the steps (new deck/front porch) were not met but I can live with it. I had asked for extensions to the steps to place my flower pots. That did not happen. Also, I failed to communicate that I wanted closed steps (with toe kick). When I asked, he said it was too late to add it in. All-in-all he did a fabulous job. Sturdy, safe, room to sit and watch the sunsets. Great curb appeal.
