Reviews
Write a ReviewMike and his crew were professional, did high quality work on our back patio. He helped design my vision and make it a reality. We have a massive patio thatâ s receives compliments regularly! He knew exactly how to pitch it so we wouldnâ t have standing water. The team came back to finish up by laying grass seed and straw. 5/5!
I have lived in my home for 12 years and have had many contractors do work. This was the worst experience I have ever had. The bid seemed up front, remove and dispose of pavers, pour new concrete sidewalk, build up topsoil seed and hay, and install a double gate. I communicated with Mike's daughter to schedule the work which was to happen Monday or Tuesday of the first week of October. I communicated clearly that I wanted other people to look at something the end of the week and was assured that as long as the weather was good, the work would be done early in the week. I was told the job would take 1-2 days. The weather was beautiful. I called early Monday morning to find out when work would begin, and the daughter told me they were finishing up a couple of other jobs but that the new double gate would be installed that afternoon. No one came or called. I called Tuesday morning to get voicemail. I requested a call regarding the job. No call. I called Wednesday morning to express my concern, to reiterate that we discussed having the job done early in the week, and to state my doubts about this being a good fit. No call back. Thursday at 9:30 am I called to say at this point my only alternative would be to contact the BBB and request a return of the half payment up front. I received a call back in 10 minutes and was assured the work would begin that day. Things seemed smooth. The concrete was poured and was setting well. The workers arrived and left before 9:30 am on Friday leaving the concrete with deep trenches on either side and no gate. Around noon I called Mike's number. His daughter answered and was extremely rude and unpleasant. I asked when the work would be finished. She told me not until Monday. When I said that wasn't acceptable, she said, "fine! Here!" And hand the phone to Mike. I was given many reasons for why the work couldn't be completed until Monday. The first was that the men were in overtime and had been sent home for the weekend. The second was that they didn't want to drive their machines o to the concrete until it set more. The this was that they were unable to procure topsoil that was ground fine enough. I was able to convince them to finish the job that I had been td would take two days. I asked one of the workers if he had been all done for the day. He looked surprised and said, "no!" Emphatically. They used a wheelbarrow to bring very nice topsoil which they seemed to now be in possession of. The gate had to be adjusted several times because it flew open when I gave it a solid thrust. It also appeared to be a far inferior to the galvanized steel of my current fence. The closure was also over a sharp edge. I will have clients enter that gate, and it is unsafe. The topsoil was even with the walk instead of being built up. By Tuesday morning it had sunk up to 4 inches below the walk in most places. I did not want to have Mike come to my home to compete any morework as the trust was destroyed by lack of communication, what I Co wider to be falsehoods and having to work so hard to have the job completed within the time frame I was originally given. I ended up hiring another contractor to fill the soil on the sides of the fence and calling the original company who installed the gate to replace the one Diamond installed. I do not recommend them. As I stated previously, this is the worst experience I have had with a contractor in the 12 years I have owned my home.
For owning your own business this lady is very unprofessional. We have taken pictures and even have her on video stating that everything was fine. This is the type of person that will NEVER be happy with the work you do.
I cannot say enough about Mike and his team at Diamond Concrete and Construction! I called with a small request to have a load of dirt dropped off and it lead to 2 full days of amazing work by his whole team! They are prolific at so many things it will blow your mind! I have never been so impressed by a construction team before in my life; the group is so knowledgeable, talented and skilled, it does not matter what you request you will get top notch work with each thing! Mike is so good to his employees, talks so respectful and kind that every one of those men love him and work hard together like a well-oiled machine â you can tell they really appreciate each other. They went above and beyond all I asked or could possibly think, they will be my go to guys every time now â when you find a diamond and see all the brilliant facets, you will never go back to just a stone!
